Silence hung in the air.
Thalina let the weight of it settle before she tilted her chin up, eyes blazing. "I'm done with the dodging. I want answers."
Some of the stags shifted awkwardly. The sassy stag whistled lowly before muttering, "Feisty."
Thalina shot her a sharp look, and the stag immediately pretended to inspect her hooves.
A few of the younger stags nudged one another, clearly amused, but no one spoke up.
Thalina crossed her arms. "Fine. If none of you will tell me what's going on, I'll just assume I've been cursed and start screaming. Maybe even get out of this stupid lake and start running into the woods and see what happens."
Several stags perked up in alarm.
"You wouldn't," one of them said hesitantly.
Thalina narrowed her eyes.
"I would." she obviously wouldn't because if Tharion but she could see the animals believed her. They were obviously worried about something else.
