Thalina exhaled sharply, arms crossing as she turned to Tharion. "This beastman—" she jabbed a thumb toward the fox, whose tail bristled as if she had physically poked him—"tried to cheat me! He said one potato and yam cost fifty coins!"
Tharion's eyes darkened instantly.
Not because of the price—he could buy the entire stall if he wanted—but because another male had the audacity to put his female through such trouble.
The fox beastman felt pure dread crawl up his spine. His sharp ears twitched, sensing the shift in the air, the sheer pressure that came with standing near a three-stripe beastman. Tharion could kill him effortlessly.
The fox swallowed thickly, his tail lowering as instinct screamed at him to submit.
Tharion's jaw tensed, but his voice remained smooth. "It's fine. I'll pay."
He reached for his pouch.
