Kael let out a tired sigh as he turned the handle of the penthouse door. The day had been long, full of problems and unexpected conversations. He just wanted to relax for a bit, maybe eat something, and finally get some rest.
As soon as he entered, his eyes scanned the spacious room until they landed on Amelia, who was sitting at the dining table. The soft glow of enchanted lamps illuminated her face, revealing a distant expression as she absentmindedly twirled her pasta around her fork.
She looked… downcast.
Kael frowned slightly. He didn't need to ask to know why. From the moment he had been with Sylphie, he had felt Amelia's aura lingering nearby. She had been there, listening, watching everything.
He approached, trying not to seem too intrusive. "Hey."
Amelia glanced up briefly before returning her focus to her plate. Her voice sounded neutral, but there was a subtle weight to it. "Hey. There's food in the pot if you want some."
