Chapter 74 - Why?

I woke up to an empty bed.

The warmth from last night was gone, replaced by the cool morning air. Kael was nowhere to be seen. For a moment, I just stared at the ceiling, my mind sluggish as I tried to push away the drowsiness.

I sat up, running a hand through my hair before my eyes landed on the chair across the room.

My shirt and trousers were neatly folded on it, along with a new pair of boxers.

I frowned slightly, stepping out of bed and walking toward them. He must've washed and dried it while I was busy sleeping. He was the only one who could've. But is that okay?

I picked up the clothes, feeling the crisp fabric between my fingers before quickly changing out of the nightwear. The fresh clothes felt more like myself, more familiar.
