"Is she okay?" Sean asked.
Stanley, who had woken up just in time to see Sean leaving for work, stopped him with urgent news. "Lilac showed up at our door completely drenched and heartbroken," he informed him.
Hearing this, Sean immediately tensed. If Lilac was upset, they were all in trouble—especially him.
"She is, but you should be more worried about yourself once she wakes up," Stanley added, making Sean gulp. Without wasting another second, he grabbed his bag and sprang to his feet.
"Then I suppose it's time for me to leave," he said, clutching his bag and turning toward the door.
"Where do you think you're going, Sean?"
The sudden voice made him freeze. His face paled as he slowly turned, dread pooling in his stomach. Standing by Stanley's room door was Lilac, her expression dark with fury.
Stanley, watching from the side, barely had time to react before Lilac took off her slipper and launched it straight at Sean.
