Chapter 25 - Chapter 24

"Having fun, aren't you?" Gin's voice was slow and low, carrying a casual cruelty, as if savoring some ritual.

Mo Wen was half-kneeling on the ground, his shoulders heaving, blood dripping onto the cold metal floor, blooming into crimson flowers. Two mercenaries lowered their guns and approached quickly.

Mo Wen's fingertips trembled as they touched a damaged high-voltage cable. There was only one chance. He grabbed the cable and jammed it into the main power socket!

"Buzz—!"

A piercing electric arc tore through the air, wild blue-white light rampaging. Lights flickered, instruments screeched like dying beasts, and the creatures in the lab pods struggled violently, their deafening roars shaking the entire base!

Then the base plunged into darkness.

Gin's eyes were cold, his lips curling slightly as he ordered his men to restrain Mo Wen, then waved his hand:"Pursue."

The hunt was coming to an end.

Sima and his men were gradually forced into a dead-end corridor. Gin grew increasingly impatient, signaling his men to speed up the attack.

Sima hid behind a medicine cabinet, firing back. A high-explosive bullet shattered the large cabinet in front of him. The scorching shockwave hit him like a heavy punch, throwing him hard onto the cold, hard ground. Pain surged through him, blood trickling down his forehead, blurring his vision. Another bullet precisely pierced his shoulder!

"Ah—!"

The pain made him scream and kneel, his pistol falling to the ground, blood quickly staining his fingertips.

Mo Wen's mind roared as he watched Gin's cold and efficient methods crush their last hope.

Sima struggled unwillingly, trying to get up. But Gin didn't even glance at him, casually drawing a military knife and driving it into Sima's shoulder, pinning him to the medicine cabinet.

"Don't move." Gin's voice was like frost,"You're already useless."

Sima gritted his teeth, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth, his eyes full of anger and unwillingness.

In just a few minutes, all of Sima's efforts were easily torn apart by Gin.

Gin leisurely watched as his soldiers pinned Sima to the ground, then holstered his pistol, stretching contentedly, enjoying the feeling of control like an emperor.

"You claim to save humanity," Sima panted, his eyes burning with anger,"then tell me, why are there more and more test subjects in the lab?!"

Gin smiled slightly, as if hearing a boring question."More people, more test subjects."

"Don't play dumb." Sima gritted his teeth,"With such strict quarantine measures, the number of infected keeps increasing. The number of missing people outside is also growing... How long do you think you can hide this?"

Gin shrugged lazily,"Hide?" He strolled leisurely, his gaze sweeping over the blood-stained floor, his smile deepening,"Some things don't need to be hidden, just accepted."

Mo Wen's heart sank. He endured the pain and said in a low voice,"...The test subjects aren't 'increasing,' they were planned from the start."

Gin paused, showing a meaningful expression but said nothing.

"From the supply of logistics materials," Mo Wen's breathing quickened,"the food stock here far exceeds the consumption of a normal shelter. Such a large number of experimental supplies can only have one purpose..."

He stared at Gin, his Adam's apple bobbing, finally voicing the terrible speculation:"This place... was never a camp, but an experimental base."

The lab fell silent, the air seemingly frozen.

Gin raised an eyebrow, clapping lightly, his tone still casual:"Smart, join me!"

He suddenly leaned down, a sickly smile on his lips, and whispered in Mo Wen's ear,"But some answers are boring once spoken. I was hoping to see more of your reasoning."

He straightened up, smiling slightly, his voice leisurely echoing in the lab,"'Eighteenth level of hell'? If you want to call it that, it's not entirely wrong. After all, we've filled up to the seventeenth level."

His laughter echoed in the lab, cold and mad.

"You're insane!" Mo Wen coldly saw through everything.

"You reject this power, how foolish! Superhumans are the future! And you? Rejecting evolution, weak like insects! Mo Wen, I prepared a special show just for you—"

His patience vanished, and he waved impatiently at the soldiers beside him.

Deep within the base, a low, terrifying rumble began, like a long-dormant beast awakening.

The lab's heavy alloy doors slowly slid open, revealing a suffocating presence from the dark room. It was a muscular, hulking man, as if he had emerged from hell. His skin was covered in twisted black lines, with black buds growing eerily between them, like evil life quietly blooming.

"Jack, see clearly?" Gin's voice carried sickly pleasure,"Kill all this trash in front of you!"

Gin smiled slightly, as if enjoying a bloody and beautiful performance, his white teeth glaring in the dim light.

Jack, like an activated killing machine, roared and charged. These survivors, stripped of the black spores, were now no different from ordinary people. Bullets hit this war machine, but Jack seemed unfazed.

Soon, the remaining rebels' screams echoed, blood splattered, limbs flew, and the scene quickly turned into a one-sided slaughter.

Gunfire still echoed defiantly in the depths of the corridor.

Mo Wen was dragged out of the darkness.

"Stop!" Mo Wen roared, his voice trembling with anger,"This is a massacre!"

"Well, sort of." Gin shrugged, his tone casual,"But it's also part of the experiment. Besides, he can't fully follow our commands yet. So you see why I need more talented people to help me?"

"You want to create killing machines?!" Mo Wen gritted his teeth.

Gin chuckled, his eyes flashing dangerously,"Not just killing, I want to become a god! And gods need loyal followers. Of course, I will give my followers everything they dream of—money, women, power, anything you can imagine!"

"That's not a god, that's Satan's delusional rant!" Mo Wen rebuked.

Gin's smile grew more wanton,"Why don't you understand? The so-called rulers of this world—mayors, CEOs, they all bow before me, offering their wealth. If you want to be a mayor, I can make it happen in an hour, enjoying the admiration of thousands! These are mere trifles to me. So, Mo Wen, don't you want to be such a person?"

"You've fallen into Satan's trap, his most skilled method!" Mo Wen's voice was filled with endless anger and sorrow.

Gin's gaze was cold, his voice echoing like an abyss,"Even if I am Satan, so what?"

He waved his hand lightly, and the soldiers, without hesitation, drove the injured Sima into the death corridor—where Jack awaited.

"You're beyond saving!"

The slaughter came swiftly and mercilessly. Screams abruptly ceased, the smell of blood quickly permeated. Moments later, only a mess of limbs and rivers of blood remained at the corridor's end. Meanwhile, Gin's soldiers tightened the heavy chains, dragging Jack back.

Gin stared coldly at Mo Wen,"You're as stubborn as your father! Do you know what happens to those who are worthless to me?" His smile vanished completely.

"Thud, thud," heavy footsteps echoed in the darkness, interrupting him.

To Mo Wen's surprise—the raging monster obediently walked towards Gin, like a tamed beast.

However, just as everyone let their guard down—

Boom!

Jack suddenly erupted with a deafening roar, his eyes blood-red, his body charging like a cannonball! The soldiers were caught off guard, screaming as they were thrown aside. The next second, the massive iron fist, wrapped in a whirlwind, smashed towards Gin!
