Chapter 68 - Chapter 68 - Giant hammer.

[ New Mission Available! ]

[ Use an item to forge a sword! ]

When I read the system messages, I smiled, remembering all the items I had collected inside the dungeon. However, my smile quickly faded as I recalled that I had lost everything.

Not only my sword but also all my items had disappeared.

"Damn it!" I shouted, throwing the sword I was forging onto the table.

Right after, I noticed a crack had appeared on the blade.

[ You have forged a failure ]

"What do you mean I forged a failure? I didn't even finish the forging process! Damn it!" Frustrated, I picked up the sword and melted it down to reuse the mithril. Fortunately, I could do that without affecting the forging probabilities.

After melting the sword, I started hammering again to shape the blade.

"Oh?" Every few hammer strikes, I gained points. I was probably earning excelia in the process as well. "Wait… can I farm points and excelia like this?" An idea popped into my head.

What if I melted the mithril, hammered it into the shape of a sword, then melted it down again and repeated the process? Wouldn't I be able to farm points and excelia this way?

"Will the system allow me to do this?"

After hammering for a few minutes, the blade had taken shape, and I placed it in an oil basin to cool it. Once that was done, I struck the blade against the anvil again—only for a crack to appear on it.

[ You have forged a failure ]

Seeing the message, a smile crept onto my face as I put the blade back into the furnace to melt it down.

"Let's see how much I can improve by doing this for a few hours."

####

A few hours had passed since I started farming points and excelia. I thought the system would limit me, but that didn't happen. In just a few hours, I had already farmed nearly a thousand points.

If I keep doing this for a few days, I'll reach the next rank easily.

"I haven't even had lunch today…" It was already past lunchtime, and evening was approaching.

So, I decided to stop farming for today and forge a proper sword.

I repeated the process again, but this time, I didn't break the sword or reheat the metal. I completed the forging process and eagerly awaited the system's message.

"Please, let it be a legendary-ranked sword!"

[ You have forged a Level 1 Legendary Sword ]

[ The skill "Magic Enhancement LV3" has been added to the sword ]

[ The skill "Hammer LV3" has been added to the sword ]

[ The skill "Ice Control LV3" has been added to the sword ]

"Oh! This is amazing! Magic Enhancement and two attack skills!" Excited, I watched as the sword underwent its final transformations.

The blade, which already had a striking appearance due to its material, became even more eye-catching.

It turned a reflective white, almost like a mirror.

The hilt, originally made of simple wood, changed into a different, unknown material. It was as black as charcoal, with gray patterns swirling around it like a snake.

The hilt also grew in size.

The contrast between the dark hilt and the white blade made the sword incredibly beautiful.

"Besides…" I wasn't sure if it was because of the "Ice Control LV3" skill, but the sword emitted a mist as if it were a block of ice. Additionally, the blade was so cold that just holding it for a few seconds caused pain.

Even after the transformation process was complete, the blade's chilling effect remained.

"Well, as long as I don't touch the blade directly, it should be fine."

Now, it was time to test the skills.

"There's no need to test Magic Enhancement. It's amazing how every high-ranked sword I forge comes with this skill. It's like the system knows it's necessary."

Now, I needed to test "Hammer LV3" and "Ice Control LV3."

"The second skill is pretty self-explanatory, but the Hammer skill… How does that work? Does the sword transform into a hammer for brute-force attacks?"

That could be useful.

"If I encounter a monster with a tough shell or hard skin, using the sword as a hammer to break through its defenses might be a great idea."

I walked over to the test dummies.

The broken dummies had been replaced with new ones.

"First, the Hammer skill."

I activated the skill in my mind, and just as I expected, my sword transformed into a hammer.

I thought it would turn into a hammer similar to the ones I use for forging, but that wasn't the case. The sword became a war hammer with a long handle and a massive head.

Not only that—it was heavy.

So heavy that I struggled to wield it.

With difficulty, I lifted it and swung it, striking the dummy's head.

BOOM!

The hammer, which felt as heavy as an elephant, crushed the dummy. The surrounding wood shattered, and the metal inside was flattened as if it were made of tofu.

The ground beneath the dummy also cracked, sending up a cloud of dust.

Since I wasn't on the first floor, the floor collapsed, opening a hole to the level below.

Fortunately, no one was there.

The sword returned to its original form, and I stared at the gaping hole in the floor. I smiled bitterly as I began hearing voices—people startled by the commotion.

Some members of the Familia entered the lower room, looked up, and saw me through the hole. Some of them even started laughing.

I waved at them and stepped away from the hole.

"I made a mess again."

But does that matter?

I just forged an amazing sword!
