Cherreads

Chapter 20 - unedited

Luna Daigo finishes preparing dinner for her husband. The aroma of roasted chicken and freshly baked bread fills the cozy kitchen, mingling with the scent of the vanilla candles she has lit earlier. It is their first anniversary—they have been married for a year now, though it feels like just yesterday they exchanged vows. Time flies by. She glances at the clock, the soft ticking in the background a reminder that she still has a few hours before he comes home from work.

She rushes to their bathroom, her bare feet padding softly against the cool marble floor. The moment she turns on the tap, the soothing sound of water fills the room. She slips into the warm bath, sighing as the warm water and fragrant rose petals embrace her skin, their delicate scent swirling around her, making her feel like she is floating in a garden. When she finally steps out, her skin feels like velvet, softened and renewed. She wraps her hair in a plush towel, the fabric still warm from the bath, and pulls her soft, terrycloth bathrobe tightly around her body. The subtle, floral fragrance of her body lotion lingers in the air as she smooths it over her skin.

Settling in front of the vanity mirror, she carefully applies her makeup, the cool touch of the brushes against her skin sending a slight shiver down her spine. She chooses light, natural tones—just enough to accentuate her features without overwhelming them, knowing how much Alexander prefers her that way. The soft glow from the vanity lights highlights her smooth skin, making her feel both elegant and at ease.

She crosses the room and picks up the dress she bought a few days ago, the satin fabric cool and smooth under her fingertips. She has been preparing for this night for weeks, anticipating the joy it will bring them both. Once dressed, the fabric of the dress hugs her figure perfectly, its deep crimson color contrasting beautifully with her pale skin. She slips on her heels, the soft leather molding to her feet, and returns to the dining room.

The dining room glows with the warm, flickering light of the candles she has placed on the table. The faint scent of vanilla and spices hangs in the air, mingling with the rich, heady aroma of the wine chilling in the ice bucket. The table is perfectly set, with polished silverware and crystal glasses that catch the candlelight, refracting it into tiny rainbows.

She glances at the time again, her heart fluttering with anticipation—he will arrive any moment now. Excitement buzzes through her, making her fingertips tingle. The sudden, sharp ring of the doorbell startles her, her heart skipping a beat. He is early—she thinks she still has thirty more minutes to prepare.

She hurries to the door, the sound of her heels clicking against the wooden floor echoing in the hallway. She pauses, taking a deep breath as she smooths the lines of her dress, her hands trembling slightly with nervous anticipation. But when she opens the door, the bright smile she has prepared falls away, replaced by a look of confusion and shock—it is not her husband.

Standing in the doorway is Mila Clair, a popular model whose striking beauty is even more overwhelming in person. Luna's heart sinks, a cold knot of unease forming in her stomach. The scent of Mila's expensive perfume, a sharp and heady floral, fills the entryway as she steps inside, uninvited.

"Excuse me, you can't just walk into my house like you own the place," Luna says, her voice trembling with a mixture of disbelief and anger.

Mila ignores her, her heels clicking against the polished marble floor as she walks further into the house. The sound grates on Luna's nerves, sharp and intrusive. Luna reaches out and grabs Mila's arm, the fabric of Mila's designer dress smooth and cool under her fingers. "I said you can't enter my house like you own the place," Luna repeats, her voice growing louder, more desperate.

"I heard you, Luna," Mila replies, her voice smooth as silk, her eyes scanning Luna's appearance with a smirk that sends a chill down Luna's spine. The scent of her perfume, a heady mix of florals and musk, fills the air, making Luna's stomach churn.

Luna's mind races—how does Mila know her name? They have never met before. "How do you know my name?" Luna demands, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and anger.

"Your name isn't hard to find," Mila replies, her eyes flickering with something that makes Luna's skin crawl. She takes in Luna's appearance, her gaze lingering on the dress, the makeup, the carefully set table. "You look good. Are you heading out?" Mila asks, her tone casual, as if they were old friends. The nonchalance in her voice only fuels Luna's fury.

As if barging into her home isn't enough, Mila waltzes over to the dining table, her movements fluid and graceful, like a cat surveying its territory. She sits in the chair meant for Alexander, the silk of her dress rustling softly as she settles in. She reaches for the bottle of wine, the sound of the cork popping out of the bottle cutting through the silence, the scent of the wine wafting through the air.

"You don't understand that you're trespassing. I'm going to call security to kick you out," Luna threatens, her voice shaking with barely contained rage, her nails digging into her palms.

"Please do, darling. Call security," Mila replies, her tone dripping with sarcasm, her eyes cold and amused. The sound of her voice grates on Luna's nerves like nails on a chalkboard.

At that moment, the front door creaks open, and Alexander walks in, his face etched with exhaustion. Luna's heart sinks as she watches him freeze upon seeing Mila sitting at their dining table, a glass of wine in her hand. The silence in the room is deafening, the tension palpable.

Alexander's eyes flicker between Mila and Luna, his expression a mixture of shock and confusion. "Mila?" he utters, his voice barely a whisper.

Mila turns her head, her smirk widening as she meets Alexander's gaze. "Oh, Alexander," she purrs, her voice soft and seductive. "How wonderful to see you again."

"how are you? You must be tired, I know how tedious you work is." She drops the glass of wine on the table and walks to Alexander.

She pulls him by the collar and gives him a long kiss, a kiss that left both Alexander and Luna speechless.

Luna watch her husband being kissed by another woman in front of her and her husband makes no efforts to push her away. Luna unintentionally grips the side of her dress, her breath hitch.

Mila broke the kiss, she places her hand on Alexander's chest and stares at Luna who was still trying to process what is happening. A satisfied smirk marrer Mila's face.

"What is going on Alex?" Luna asks, her vision became blurry and glistening with unshed tears.

"Luna I can explain, I....I..." Alexander couldn't form a proper sentence.

"What do you want to explain Alex? That you've been cheating on me with another woman?!" She yells.

"No honey, I am not the other woman, you are the other woman...."
