Third-party POV
Ms. Maya wasn't happy about the whole thing. She needed answers, but Nicholas wasn't ready to tell her anything. Yes, he told her Amber stole his ballot, but she didn't believe any of that. She tried her best to contact Amber's friends, but they also didn't know where she went. The authorities were still working on the case, but there was still no feedback.
She was all alone in the kitchen. It hurt her that she had to leave with this burden in her chest. All she ever wanted was the best for Amber. She didn't know Amber would end up disappearing. It's been five years now, and still, no clue. She wondered if Amber was dead or something. Her mind wasn't settled. She kept having this thought that maybe she didn't try harder. Maybe if she had tried harder to find Amber, she might have found her. She wasn't sure, but she could give it a trial, she thought to herself.
