Glyndon's breath was hot against my lips, her voice trembling as she tried to speak. But the words didn't come easily. She was still straddling me, her thighs tight around my waist, her hands braced against my shoulders as if she needed something—anything—to hold on to.
Her face was burning, flushed so red I almost wanted to bite her cheeks just to see if they'd taste as hot as they looked. But I didn't. That felt too intimate, too much like something a real couple would do. And we weren't that.
We were not a couple, let alone a real one. We weren't anything. We were nothing.
One of my hands moved almost on its own, trailing up her side before settling around her throat, not squeezing—just holding. Feeling the quick pulse beneath my fingers. I tugged her down until our mouths were barely an inch apart, our breaths mingling, my grip firm but not forceful.
