"I was told someone wanted to see me. Are you the one?" Janet asked.
"Yes, Janet," the person replied. She heard her name and instantly recognized the voice—it sounded disturbingly familiar. Then, the man slowly turned around, revealing a face that left Janet utterly stunned.
"Bale?!"
"Yes... it's me," Bale said with a smirk.
"What the hell are you doing here?! And how are you even here?" Janet asked, her eyes wide in disbelief as she stared at him standing there casually.
"What? Did you think I wouldn't come?" Bale's voice rose with anger. "Why didn't you tell me a powerful mage was going to accompany the others to rescue Max?!"
"Shush! Lower your voice, darn it!" Janet snapped, glancing over her shoulder as if someone might burst through the door any second.
