Chapter 88 - it a good try

I stood up, shaking my scales into place, and nodded at Father. "I'm ready to try again," I said, my voice filled with determination. Father smiled, his wings rustling slightly as he gestured to the open space in front of us. "Then let's begin," he said, his eyes gleaming with encouragement.

Father took a step back, giving me room to breathe. "Remember, Tharros, the key to mastering light elements is control and focus. Don't try to force it – let the magic flow through you naturally."

I nodded and tried light magic again, and it only lasted 9 seconds. I cried, and my ears folded back.

Since the last try, it only lasted 10 seconds, and this one is 9 seconds, I began to wimpper loud

Father rushed to my side, his wings enveloping me in a warm, comforting hug. "Tharros, don't cry," he whispered, his voice soothing.

I sniffled, trying to calm down, but tears still streamed down my face.

"Progress isn't always linear," Father continued. "Sometimes we take two steps forward, and then one step back." He gently nuzzled me, trying to calm me down.

"You're getting discouraged because you're focusing on the time," Father said, his voice gentle but firm, "but what's important is that you're trying, and you're not giving up." I look up at Father, still crying.

Father's expression softened, and he gently licked away my tears. "Shh, Tharros," he whispered, his warm breath comforting me. "It's okay to cry. It means you care." He paused, his eyes locked on mine. "But don't give up, son. You're strong, and you can do this."

Father's claws gently stroked my ears, sending shivers of comfort down my spine. He stroked the sensitive scales, his touch soothing and calming.

I felt my tense muscles relax, my breathing slow, and my heart rate calm.

I closed my eyes, letting out a soft sigh as his gentle strokes seemed to melt away my worries and frustrations.

I heard Mother "what is going on here I heard Tharros wimpper!" Mother said

Father turned to Mother, his expression calm and reassuring. "Tharros was just having a little trouble with his light magic, my dear," he explained.

Mother's gaze shifted to me, concern etched on her face. "Oh, Tharros, sweetie, what's wrong?" she asked, her voice soft and soothing.

"He's been practicing, but it's not coming as easily as he'd like," Father continued. "He's not giving up, though. He's being very brave."

Mother's expression turned thoughtful, and she nodded slowly. "I see," she said, her voice gentle.

"Well, Tharros, you know that magic can be tricky sometimes. Even I struggled with my own magic when I was younger. "She smiled reassuringly. "But you're doing great, sweetie. Don't be too hard on yourself, okay?"

I nodded, feeling a bit better. Mother's words of encouragement always seemed to lift my spirits.

Mother smiled and nudged me gently with her snout. "Why don't we try something different, Tharros? Sometimes, taking a break and coming back to it later can help."

Father nodded in agreement. "That's a great idea, my dear. Tharros, why don't you go get a drink of water and take a short break? We'll try again later."

I nodded and got out from my father wing to get some water to drink

As I walked away, I could hear Mother and Father talking in hushed tones. I didn't pay much attention to their conversation, focusing instead on getting a refreshing drink of water.

I approached the crystal-clear stream that ran through our little clearing, dipping my head to take a refreshing sip. The cool water felt wonderful on my parched throat.

I try to pay attention to my mother and father conversation in a far distance

I tilted my head slightly, trying to listen in on Mother and Father's conversation. They were speaking in hushed tones, but I could just make out a few words.

"...think he's getting frustrated," Father said, his voice low and concerned.

"I know, dear," Mother replied. "But we have to be patient with him. He's still young, and magic can be tricky to master."

Mother's voice took on a thoughtful tone. "Perhaps we should try a different approach. Something that will help him connect with his magic on a deeper level."

Father nodded, his voice filled with agreement. "I think that's a wonderful idea, my dear. Let's try something new tomorrow. Maybe a trip to the ancient dragon ruins will spark something in him."

Father smiled and said, "After all, Tharros is very good at fire elements, so that won't need to be learned about!"

Mother chuckled, a warm smile spreading across her face. "Yes, our little Tharros has always had a natural talent for fire magic. I'm sure he'll master the light elements in no time, just like he did with fire."

I thought to myself 'yeah my light elements are crap and the weakest one I have'

I felt a pang of disappointment and frustration at my own thoughts. I didn't want to be weak in light magic, but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't seem to get the hang of it. I let out a small sigh, feeling a bit discouraged.

I walked to Father and snuggled right next to him and rested

I wrapped my wings around Tharros, holding him close as he snuggled into my side. I could feel his small body relax, his tension melting away as he leaned into me.

I smiled, feeling a surge of love and pride for my little son. He was struggling with his light magic, but I knew he'd get there eventually. And in the meantime, I was happy to offer him comfort and support.

Thyriatrix smiled "alright I be going to Kaidorix and check on how he is doing with his pet panther or lion thing that have wings and horns..... God, I should figure out what a species is convix is and his younger siblings!"

I chuckled, shaking my head in amusement. "Indeed, my dear. Convix and his siblings are quite the unique creatures, aren't they? I'm sure Kaidorix is having a wonderful time with them."

Thyriatrix smiled, her eyes sparkling with mirth. "Convix has been good these days."

I smiled. "And convix seems loyal for the past few years and seems more obedient to Kaidorix!"

I am smiling proudly. "And the bond between Kaidorix and the convix is quite strong. It's impressive to see how well they've trained together. The convix's loyalty is undeniable - it's always by Kaidorix's side."

Thyriatrix smiled warmly, her eyes shining with pride. "Yes, they make a wonderful team, don't they? Kaidorix has always had a way with animals, and the convix is no exception."

I wrapped my wings around Thyriatrix, pulling her close. "I'm just glad to see our son doing so well. He's growing up to be a fine young dragon."

Thyriatrix nuzzled me. "I should check on them right now, and if I'm not wrong, they are in the pet chamber!"

I smiled, nuzzling Thyriatrix back. "Yes, that's probably where they are. Kaidorix loves spending time with the convix in the pet chamber. Go ahead, my dear, go check on them. I'll stay here with Tharros."

Thyriatrix smiled, giving me a gentle lick on the scales. "I'll be back soon, my love. Take care of our little one." She turned and walked away, her tail swishing behind her.

I watched her go, then turned my attention back to Tharros, who was still snuggled up against me. I wrapped my wings around him, feeling a sense of contentment wash over me.

As I held Tharros close, I could feel his gentle breathing and the soft beat of his heart. It was moments like these that I cherished, surrounded by the warmth and love of my family.

Tharros stirred slightly, nuzzling his head into the crook of my neck. I smiled, feeling a deep sense of connection to my little one. "Sleep tight, my son," I whispered, my voice barely audible.

Tharros's eyes fluttered closed, and he let out a soft sigh, his body relaxing into mine. I held him close, feeling my own eyes grow heavy with sleep.

As I drifted off, I couldn't help but feel grateful for this life, for this family, and for the love that we shared. The warmth of the fire, the comfort of my mate, and the love of my child all combined to create a sense of peace and contentment that I had never known before.

And so, with a heart full of love and a spirit at peace, I let myself drift off into a well-deserved rest.
