Chapter 50 - Lone temple(4)

There, on the wall, drawn in the middle of the relatively high door there was the very same figure that had previously stood there, but it seemed much more ancient then before, actually the whole painting had turned older, albeit that this illustrations was still much, much older.

It stood in the same position and was surrounded by the same pattern as before, but now the cycle seemed to be more intricate, it was the same but made more sense to him, he could see fingers, albeit crudely illustrated and disproportional to the rest of the illustrations body.

The singular figure stood alone, around it there was practically nothing for a radius of about a dozen inches, but after that there were countless figures, there was a seemingly beautiful with blackened out eyes that seemed to stand for her being blind, she seemed to wear a cold, iron sword around her waist as well, but this was just one of countless different depictions, there was a winged man with a body language that seemed to show that he was lost, there was a being that was drawn with colours that Cades had never even heard of, a being that seemed to grin with a crudely drawn smile within the illustration.

As he continued slowly walking even closer than he had already been moments before, which was very close to the painting already, he didn't even notice that the silver he was walking through had slowly turned into a cold, soothing liquid.

And finally he saw something that he had somehow not been able to see up until now.

There were four beings depicted on there.

Each of them about as big as the illustration of the giant king on one of the other walls, there was a gigantic being with a witches hat on top of her and horrendous strings of hair clinging down her hair, the fingers that normally consisted of three parts consisted of five, extremely long and thin parts and she had a ring on one of the fingers, a ring with a sharp end that seemed to have a gem on the end that was near the fingernails that seemed to be curved inwards and ready to rip enemies apart.

The figure had a long, flowing dress illustrated using thousands of different lines, never a full colouring though.

That was the seemingly humongous illustration that stood to the right side of the central, much smaller, illustration.

On the right there was a being that looked as if it had a blindfold and a long, fitted hat out of which there was nothing but darkness streaming down its face.

It was depicted wearing a long, flowing cloak that was covering its whole body and had a good choice in colour scheme overall, but above its hat there was something that resembled an hole that was bleeding darkness instead of exuding golden light as they were normally depicted.

Other than that it was rather simple.

But the last two illustrations were not as simple as the one with the fitting, vintage hat.

On the utmost right side of the central figure there was a depiction of a being armored in a glorious onyx armor, each of the intricate plates being carved with countless miniscule sigils whose power cades had no idea of, they might as well have been in another language which they probably were.

Or, most likely, they could also just be many millennia older than anything Cades knew.

The face of the glorious onyx knight was covered entirely, in a plate that seemed to make it faceless and mirroring all that it saw, though at the moment it had nothing except for a slight, round shadow.

On the utmost left there was a monster.

A illustration of a being much bigger than the rest, a illustration that looked as if it was made of the nightmares that every child had dreamt at least once in their lifetime, thousands of strands of something... hanging down of from the humongous monsters hunched back.

The face of the being that was seemingly humanoid in its base but was still much more hunched and had weirdly shaped arms and legs, with the arms being three parts long instead of two and having fingers similar to those of the illustration with the witches hat, just much more fleshy.

It seemed to wear a mask resembling a cat, quite grotesque in comparison to the rest of its body as if the body of a kurakkan was put under a beautiful childs face.

Finally, as he was done analysing the painting in its entirety he looked back to the central figure of the unknown being.

And as he caressed the illustration with his fingers and repeated the same action from back then nothing happened, however he lost himself in the simple and crude illustration of the cloaked figure and at that moment the silver that had now entirely turned into a cool liquid started moving, carefully leading Cades to take a few steps backward and lifting the entranced Cades into the air, carefully lowering him onto the top of the the altar.

If anyone else had seen this they would've been scared to death as they would see thousands of tiny threads, behaving like tendrils, drilling into his body and slowly but surely vanishing into him, all of the silver that was put on the ground in quite a thick layer, about two tons of the silver metal overall.

After some time the tendrils stopped as quickly as they had begun, with the entirety of the silver metal having vanished into his body, an impossible amount greater than his body, drilling holes through his armor and clothes, though they were basically all ripped apart as well.

And finally he just laid there, having walked into unconsciousness and seeing nothing but dreams that would quickly fade from his memories, but there was another being in the room, one that he would not see.

A indescribable figure stood there, doing nothing and soon after it quickly vanished as if it had never been there, only leaving behind a long, silver sword, leaning it onto the side of the altar on which Cades laid.
