Chapter 43 - Between Continents(2)

The poisonous goo was covering his whole body and causing everything to feel sore and in some cases he simply felt nothing, such as on his hands that were tightly wrung around his staff and constantly showered in the goo, luckily Cades could still feel his wings and think in some capacity.

But as hundreds more of the disgusting, long, fleshy tentacles began ascending into the air from all around and the arching began to descend onto himself with as much power as they could seemingly muster he began realizing that he couldn't win this, he had overestimated himself, or maybe the monster had simply tricked him, maybe this was part of how it hunted.

He had to escape but the tendrils were covering the skies, the only way through which he could escape and he was almost certain that the kraken-like monster didn't entirely show itself yet, so much so that he might not have seen its entire body yet, as he had previously thought.

And yet Cades attempted to rise up higher into the sky, evading some of the quickly descending tendrils that were seemingly trying to impale him on their long, fleshy lances, poisoning him with their horrid but manageable venom.

The blue tent of the skies, however, was blocked by the arching, pulsating mass of black flesh, so much so that the dark, black goo rained down as if it was a horrendous storm, so much so that Cades could barely feel his body and especially his face.

Luckily the venom seemed to simply dull his mind and body instead of paralysing, most likely because of his rank and the fact that ehetrians mostly didn't absorb food or other nutrients into their body, instead opting to absorb energy and mana itself, mostly through smaller amounts of sugar and in very rare cases mana stones even.

But, still, as he was flying far above the poison was still a great hinderance to his escape attempt because of the simple fact that he could barely analyse the structure created by the tendrils and consequently didn't know where exactly it was weak.

Because of the same reason he didn't even realize that added to the arching tent above his head there were now gigantic, pulsating, fleshy black walls around him, growing closer and closer and as if that hadn't already been enough an eye surrounded by teeth was under his feet as he had begun slashing through the rapidly regenerating tentacles that were now spewing dark blue blood added on to the disgusting, reeking black goo.

The gigantic, black-blue eye under his feet was slowly opening up in a grotesque show of its anatomy, a never-ending tunnel of pulsating flesh, the same as that of which its tendrils, though much more of the disgusting black goo was visible around what seemed to be the kraken-like creatures "throat".

Cades, however, unperturbedly continued slashing through the seemingly endless, regenerating walls of flesh that were still growing closer with the gigantic, opened "eye" rising above the water, displacing it all to its surrounding, intending to devour him with one powerful gulp.

As Cades however finally begun screaming his blade begun brightly burning in a pure, violet colour, with the incredible intent to cut through everything, a power that he had practiced with but was barely able to use, and when he used it then mostly in a subconscious state.

The powerful flames were barely able to escape through the tendrils covering the skies after slashing at them dozens of times over, finally allowing Cades to fly through the small, quickly closing opening.

After he had finally escaped from the quickly closing hug of the black, pulsating, fleshy tendrils he looked back, in his stunted state, and finally saw the monster which he had though to be of a kraken-like composition.

It was horrid and simply a gruesome, disgusting aberration.

Hundreds of those very same eyes that Cades had just been vehemently fighting against, against which he had been desperately trying to survive, each one dozens of feet across and with a following of hundreds of the already well-known disgusting, fleshy tentacles added onto them like hair onto a puppet and of various different colours, out of those only a few seemed to look at him though, excluding the one that he had just "fought", or rather, escaped from.

They were all fixed onto gigantic, giraffe-like necks armored in a carapace and fixed onto an unimaginably big creature that was moving and caused devastating waves onto the whole ocean as it was rising and lowering its mass, that very same creature had about half a dozen of the already-known black-blue eyes fixed onto the slow necks that were springing from its endlessly extending and growing body of which Cades couldn't even see the end.

As he was watching the endless black mass transformed and dozens of new tendrils, all in different sizes and of different constitutions were created and shooting towards him at an almost unbreakable speed and a blob as big as dozens of the demons that Cades had previously fought rose with thousands of teeth peaking out from an opening within its formless self that were about a hundred feet tall each with dozens of the already well-known eyes spurting out of its formless blob extending from the formless monster, all in a the very same black colour that seemed to absorb everything.

Cades could barely rip himself away from watching the horrendous monster, especially in his current stunted condition.

He panicked, his hear accelerating to an unnatural speed, beating out of his chest like a dozen jackhammers at once, as if there was a tiny man barely stopping a train from escaping from a tunnel, breaking through a wooden enclosure, the train being his heart and the wooden enclosure being his chest.

He could barely think as he ripped his stunted, sore eyes wide open an began flying away as fast as he could, he knew what that monster was, it was a kurakkan, a being only heard of within ancient myths, a being that was rarely ever killed and if it was then its death caused a horrid disaster to happen in the ancient worlds that it lived in.

It was a gigantic formless slime-like being that had the common ability to form countless tendrils and fleshy copies of the creatures it had previously devoured, it was almost always treated as a guard.

But this all didn't matter, or at least he hoped that it would not matter to him, he had to escape as fast as he could.

So he flew away as the countless fleshy apparitions seemed to follow him as he escaped.
