Chapter 177 - When You’re Young and Successful

"Rope? Professor?"

The young Pokémon Ranger looked at the youth in front of him, who was a few years younger than himself, suspiciously as if asking Rope or asking himself.

"So it's Professor Rope."

The old Pokémon Ranger scrutinized Rope for a while, then let out a fierce sigh of relief, and his whole body collapsed.

He fanned himself with a gentle shake of his red vest is stand-up collar as a fan, then reached out and wiped the sweat from his head.

He recognized Rope. And he certainly knew who and what Rope was. That said it was really thanks to going to work and groping the fish himself. If he hadn't seen the news about Professor Rope while he was at work, he wouldn't have been sure of Rope's identity.

He certainly wouldn't be so relaxed if he couldn't recognize Rope. After all, a random person claiming to be a Pokémon Professor and you believe it...

That is, Rope is also out of the loop in the research community. After all, the youngest Pokémon Professor in history, it's hard not to read more about him.

He's more commonly referred to as the "Red of the research world," and that's a pretty big compliment.

Red has become a legend.

Of course, this is only for those who are more concerned about the news. That is to say, it's more for those who are in a stable environment. For someone like Pokémon Ranger, who spends his days wandering around in the mountains and forests, it's not easy to recognize the newly famous Rope.

Rope obviously understood this problem as well, so he smiled with interest and asked, "Oh, uncle you've heard of me?"

The old Pokémon Ranger nodded and smiled, "I occasionally go looking for some newspapers and magazines or something like that to use for occasional boredom relief while patrolling close to towns. I saw your news a couple days ago."

Rope nodded, the one in front of him did have good habits, knowing that keeping a minimal interest in current events was a good habit indeed.

As if reading Rope's thoughts, the old Pokémon Ranger smiled, "It's actually only when I got a little older that I started paying attention to this kind of news. When I was young, I was also someone who could stay in the forest for half a year with great interest! Hahaha!"

He laughed with a hahaha, then collected his smile and said, "Let me introduce myself, my name is Aren, an old guy who has been working in the Pokémon Ranger industry for many years still remaining in obscurity."

He patted the shoulder of the young man beside him and said, "This guy is called Kaylor, a newcomer in Pokémon Ranger, but don't underestimate him, he's the star of tomorrow in our Pokémon Ranger."

Kaylor smiled coyly and greeted Rope.

Rope smiled and said, "Hello, both of you."

At that moment footsteps once again came from outside the cave. Rope smiled and said, "The girl outside is Whitley, my apprentice. And my traveling companion."

As soon as Rope spoke, Whitley walked in from the east and looked at the two strangers in front of her.

Rope waved at Whitley and said, "These are Aren and Kaylor, they are the Pokémon Ranger."

Whitley smiled and greeted the two men, "Hello, my name is Whitley, I'm from Unova. Traveling with Rope right now."

"Hello!" ×2

"The pot is open Rope. everyone has been waiting for a long time..." said Whitley helplessly as she looked at Rope.

As she said that she walked over to where the pot was and then started serving the various Pokémon that had come in.

That said, she didn't know why Rope insisted on inviting all the Pokémon to dinner. And made sure to chat while eating.

Let's just say that Rope did have some little habits that seemed rather strange to others sometimes.

Whitley moved quickly, dividing the large box of Pokéblocks by the pot quickly, and then handed it to Charmeleon on the other side of the table.

"Please, Charmeleon, divide the Pokéblocks among everyone."

Charmeleon nodded and then took the 10 boxes of Pokéblock from Whitley. then placed one of the boxes in front of Growlithe's eyes on the other side of the room. growlithe grunted as a sign of thanks and then buried his head in his food.

Charmeleon then gives Foongus another box of Pokéblock.

"Guu~ (Thank you!)"

"Roar! (You're welcome.)"

Charmeleon then gave Pokéblocks to the Pokémon around him in turn, and in the end, he was left with two boxes of Pokéblocks in his hand, and he greeted Rope before heading towards the outside of the cave with the Pokéblocks there.

He had gone to find Entei, who was out on watch.

Whitley stroked Growlithe's head at his feet and reached Rope with four bowls of curry. Then divided the curry between them.

"What brings you two here? I heard you guys shouting outside, you are here to see Kangaskhan aren't you?"

Rope asked after taking a bite of curry.

Aren looked at the bowl of steaming curry and stifled a gulp before saying, "Um, we saw the burned forest and were worried that the overlord of this forest had changed. But now it seems that the one who set the forest on fire should be your Entei."

No, it was the man himself...

Kangaskhan, Nidoking thought together in a rare moment.

"Eh, Kangaskhan was acting a bit aggressive at the time, so Entei made the first move." Rope nodded without changing his face, as if he thought so himself.

"Then that makes it okay for us to be here. Since it's your Pokémon and nothing has happened to Kangaskhan, we won't have to conduct the Overlord Change Investigation Report." Kaylor opened his mouth in a rare moment. He had a mouthful of CURRY in his mouth, and it was hard for him to still be articulate.

"And what about the two of you? What are you doing here?" Aren interjected, then as if suddenly remembering something, "Uh, if it's a matter of confidentiality..."

"No, there's not much that can't be said. I'm investigating the issue of Pokémon escaping from Safari Zone." Rope said bluntly.

Aren frowned at the question before speaking, "Then it's no wonder you've come to Kangaskhan. She did escape from the Safari Zone."

With that, he scanned the room and said in a rather emotional tone, "I always thought Kangaskhan was just an isolated case of..."

Nidoking scuttled two contemptuous puffs of white air out of his nostrils, and glanced disdainfully at Aren, who had said that.

Then Rope smiled and gave him a glance, Nidoking shivered, then lowered his head and drew a circle.

"Are you going to ask more questions? Mind if the two of us sit in?" Kaylor inquired as she looked at the Pokémon, then to Rope.

"Yes, but I'm done asking the other Pokémon." Rope looked to the Scyther that had just been brought in by Nidoking.

"Tell us your story, Scyther."

Rope looked into Scyther's sharp, knife-like eyes and smiled.

————————

I don't really have that much of a story, I'm just sick of where it is.

One of our pack lived in a forest. When I was young, I used to see the elders of the pack taken away by humans or taken in by some younger humans.

I didn't understand how they would start fighting, but all they did was throw Pokéballs, while others would start fighting, but they didn't do the taking, as if they were just there for a challenge.

I have no ill feelings towards humans. Even though my elders warned us not to trust humans too much. But we still let our guard down with humans.

One day a human came into our forest and threw Pokéballs at one of my companions, which were so fragile that they could be wrenched away with a simple struggle. So it was entirely up to us whether we would be taken in or not.

We hadn't even explored the forest late, so how could we want to follow humans into the outside world?

So he broke away from the ball.

He was greeted with a brutal abuse... the grinning Rhyhorn and the human with an angry look on his face.

That was the beginning of my ill feelings towards humans...

Although a staff member soon stopped the girl, after which...I never saw my partner again.

Why do humans do this to us? I kept thinking about it. So when I grew up, I started trying to treat humans in a similar way.

I defeated their Pokémon and put my scythe on his neck...

Then I was organized by the staff.

They came so fast... it was like they were there from the start...

Then I saw the human I defeated again...

He followed the girl I remembered so well to our forest.

The girl had grown up, but the anger on that face was the same as it always was...

But I was different too... I defeated her and left her with one of her arms...

There was silence in the clan, and the staff came to me...

The chief said: "You leave. Go outside..."

So I appeared outside, here.

...

Rope, Whitley, and the two Pokémon Rangers listen quietly to Rotom's translation.

A simple story, two messed up humans, a righteously angry Scyther...

Quite simple, but the story itself and the meaning behind it were worth Rope's time to break it up and rub it in deeper.

When did it become so commonplace to have elf battles in the Safari Zone that even the Pokémon are used to it?

Why is it that people who have a history of killing Pokémon are allowed to enter the Safari Zone again?

Rope didn't understand it, but Rope knew that it wasn't right... The original purpose of the Safari Zone was not only to deal with the bad quality Pokéballs, but also to protect the rare Pokémon, but as far as the current situation was concerned, from these few cases, the Pokémon had been killed by the Safari Zone. However, judging from the current situation, from the mouths of the few Pokémon that escaped from the Safari Zone, it seems that they, the already rare Pokémon, have not gotten the treatment they deserve in the Safari Zone...

Humans have already taken the initiative in the area they occupy. So more Pokémon will face conflict with humans... Rope has never dared to overestimate the bottom line of humans, let alone underestimate the evil in their hearts.

Rope himself has always suppressed his evil thoughts...

Everyone has bad thoughts, but as long as they aren't put into practice, they're fine.

And when it's practiced and not punished as it should be... that's a big problem...

"Do you hate them? No, do you hate us? Do you, uh, hate us?"

Rope changed his tune three times in a row...

Scyther, Nidoking, Kangaskhan or any of the other Pokémon looked at each other with an unusually complicated look on their faces...

Hate?

Although life in the Safari Zone was bad in one way or another, hadn't they experienced any of those bad things on the outside? Of course they had, and even worse things had been experienced.

If humans are more or less afraid of rules, and most of them don't mess around...

Then there are no rules to speak of in the wild...

Even worse order is better than no order at all.

Don't you hate it?

But the injustices and bullying were real, engraved in my soul. The things they experienced when they were weak and young still haunted them when they grew up, so how can they forget them if they don't hate them?

So the cave fell into silence.

The fire jumped and reflected everyone's shadow on the cave wall. The shadows jumped and jumped on the cave wall, as if they were dancing, as if they were singing.

"...I understand...I'll do you all justice...even if you don't want to go back, I'll try to improve the living conditions there. Try not to let any other Pokémon repeat your mistakes..."

Rope said in a low and solemn tone.

Kangaskhan looked up at Rope, she looked straight at Rope with scrutiny in her eyes. And Rope was unafraid to meet her gaze, not a hint of hesitation or distress in her eyes.

"Whoa!"

Kangaskhan let out a low growl.

"She said, thanks, Rotom!"

Rotom, also infected by the mood of the place, lowers his tone slightly and doesn't put any weird emoticons on the screen...

Rope smiles and nods at the Pokémon before saying, "Now that I've said it, I'll try my best to do it, and I don't dare to promise anything for sure, but I'll definitely do my best! "

————————

"Thinking about something?"

Aren asked as he looked at Kaylor who had her head down, thinking.

"...Professor Rope, can it really be done?"

Kaylor asked with a slight hesitation.

Aren looked at Kaylor and gently shook his head, he knew that the one in front of him was also an existence that had always been known as a genius, Pokémon Ranger's star of tomorrow, and that to be able to come to Kanto from Oblivia in the originating land, naturally, his background wasn't small...

"Don't doubt Professor Rope's energy... "Aren shook his head and said, "Professor Oak's student, the youngest Pokémon Professor ever, a little-known Pokémon trainer, Legendary Pokémon Holder , each of these titles deserves to be taken seriously by the League, let alone someone who has all of these title's centered on himself."

Kaylor paused, the distress on her face undiminished.

"But he's a little younger than me...I don't doubt his background or energy, and Professor Oak's name is one I've heard just as much about in Oblivia. But...he's...too young..."

"You're better than me..."

Aren gave him a sly look.

"But..."

Kaylor was about to speak, but Aren didn't let him.

"It's true that you're young and talented, you've become a Senior Pokémon Ranger at a young age, and in furthering that you're an Elite Pokémon Ranger, and I think it's possible that you'll end up becoming a Regional Chief, or even a HQ Chief..."

He looked at the young youth in front of him .

"At your young age, some people just stand at the peak of the world at a young age..."
