Hokage: Take heed. The gathering of the genin and the testing of it are scheduled to take place exactly three weeks from today, on July 1st. To earn the title of Jonin, one must be among the best.
Hokage: Okay, it's time to make our selections for the candidates in preparation for the Chunin exams. To get things started, might those in charge of the rookie Genin please come forward? Kakashi, Kurenai, and Asuma. What do you say? Are there any in your squads you'd recommend who are ready for the exams despite their inexperience? As you know, any Genin who has carried out or more missions is technically eligible for the examinations. Beyond that, only you can decide when they are ready. Of course, most Genin require a much more extended training period of at least twice that many missions. So Asuma, you begin.
Asuma: I, Asuma, leader of team 10. Ino Yamanaka, Shikamaru Nara, and Chōji Akimichi. I, Asuma Sarutobi, recommend all three.
Kurenai: and my squad is number 8. Hinata Hyuga, Kiba Inuzaka, and Shino Aburame. And now I, Kurenai Yūhi, recommend all three.
Kakashi: l lead squad seven, Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto Uzumaki, and Sakura Haruno. I, Kakashi Hatake, recommend all three Genin for the Chunin selection exams.
Hokage Hmm.
?: Hold on, wait just a minute.
Hokage: Yes. What is it, Iruka?
Iruka: Lord Hokage, with all respect, the nine names given were all my students at the Academy. I know their skills and abilities. Every one of them has great promise, but it's too soon. They need more experience before they are tested. If they try now, they're sure to fail the exam.
Kakashi: When I became a Chunin, I was six years younger than Naruto is now.
Iruka: Naruto is nothing like you!! Are you trying to destroy him?
Kakashi: Well, they're always complaining about not being challenged enough. Maybe wiping out in the exams will teach them a lesson. A little pain is good?
Iruka: What-- What did you say?
Kakashi: Oh, nothing fatal, of course. So relax. They are not your students anymore. They're mine.
Hokage: Enough, both of you. I have decided that there will be a preliminary test if all rookies are selected to participate.
Kakashi: Hokage, there is one more thing. In my judgment, Son Goku should participate in the Chunin examinations independently.
Kurenai: Kakashi, are you serious? Have you lost your mind? We haven't had someone doing the Chunin exams since.
Kakashi: Itachi.
Asuma: In this aspect, I find it hard to disagree with Kakashi. Over the past couple of days, I have been training with him, and it is clear that the kid possesses considerable strength. I believe that he was holding back and didn't display his full power for someone who is only fourteen years old.
Hokage: Where would you rank him at?
Asuma: If I had to guess, I'd rank him at high Chunin or low Jonin.
Kakashi: I agree.
Guy: Excuse me, Hokage, but who exactly is this Goku that everyone keeps talking about?
Hokage: All I can say is that he's a ninja I had working outside the village for the last year. If you want to know more, you'll have to wait.
Elsewhere
Goku would have been out and about, looking for a place to eat, when Goku came across Konohamaru chased by Sakura. Goku became interested in them because of this, and he chose to follow them. Then, suddenly out of nowhere, Konohamaru crashed with another person.
?:Do you need something?
Konohamaru would then be grabbed and picked up by his blue scarf.
? So does this hurt, punk?
? Put him down, Kankuro. Or you know you'll pay for it later.
Sakura: Hey, I'm sorry. The whole thing is my fault.
Goku walked over to the group of people and stood next to Sakura. Sakura looked at him and nodded. She then pointed at the strange ninja with makeup.
Sakura: That guy is upset with Konohamaru and doesn't want to let go.
Sakura quickly explained everything, and Goku just nodded. The make-up ninja's attention was now on him. There was a blonde teenager next to him who was also watching him. Goku walked up to Naruto's side, helped him stand up, and looked at the young man; he recognized that ninja band.
Goku: Hey, I don't think you should treat that way, a little kid. I don't think he did anything wrong.
Goku's tone of voice was calm and collected. He didn't know what exactly had happened, but he wouldn't let a kid be abused, either. The young man dressed in all black smirked at Konohamaru while tightening his hold on him.
Kankuro: I'm sorry, but you don't need me to explain anything. If it was he who collided with me, then he's the one who needs to take responsibility for what happened.
Goku: You better take your hands off him right now!
Konohamaru would try and kick him, but kicks didn't affect him.
Konohamaru: let go of me, you jerk?
Kankuro: You're feisty, but not for long.
Goku had a disapproving expression in response to the comment. That person seemed to take pleasure in mistreating other people. He had difficulty adjusting to those kinds of individuals, and unfortunately for the seeming sand ninja, Goku inherited some of his mother's personality traits. Goku moved closer to him and laid his hand on the other ninja, but he didn't apply any force to the contact. he wanted to make it perfectly obvious that it was still his intention to set little Konohamaru free. As a result, the blonde standing next to him gave the impression that she was beginning to question the conduct of her partner.
?: Put an end to this; if we keep going like this, we'll get ourselves into serious trouble.
Sakura: I'm sorry, we were joking; this happened accidentally. I am to blame for this.
Kankuro: Take your hand off me, brat. I can do the same to you as to this child.
Goku didn't seem fazed by the threat and tightened the other boy's grip a bit. He let out a groan, drawing everyone's attention. The blonde with pigtails began to get nervous, and she didn't want to start a fight in a foreign village. Goku thought he didn't want to create a fight here, so he did what occurred to him.
Goku: It's funny to see sand ninjas here. Let me introduce myself, I am Son Kakarot, and the boy you have is Konohamaru Sarutobi, grandson of the Hokage.
Goku knew that not everyone would notice the double meaning in his words; certainly, Naruto and Sakura didn't, but the other Suna ninjas panicked. It means that they were in front of the 3rd Hokage's grandson.
Goku mentally sighed and felt sick at what he had just done. But it was the best he could think of being in this situation. Goku pulled his hand away as a rock hit the ninja, causing him to drop Konohamaru. Goku looked up at the trees to the right of him.
Goku: I thought you would stay silent forever, Sasuke.
Sasuke did not answer him. He stared down at the Sand ninjas.
Sasuke: What business do ninjas from other nations have in our village?
Kankuro: Fantastic, yet another spoiled brat who tests me?
Goku puts his hands in his pants pockets and just looks at the situation but not before glancing at another person behind Sasuke. Goku smirked; Sasuke seemed unaware that there was someone behind him.
Sasuke: You better get the hell out of here.
Sakura, upon hearing Sasuke she would blush, but then she relaxed when she saw Goku's calm attitude.
Kankuro: Come down from there, guys, like you are the ones I hate the most.
Kankuro lowered from her back something wrapped in bandages. The blonde with pigtails was alarmed and turned to his partner.
Tamari: Hey, are you going to use Karasu?
?: Kankuro, stop.
A cold voice caught everyone's attention except Goku. Sasuke froze upon locating her. The others were surprised to see a red-haired boy with a gourd on his back, holding his head upside down on the tree branch with his feet using chakra.
Tamari: Gaara.
Gaara: You are a disgrace to our village.
Gaara talked with the other two Suna ninjas in the group. Kankuro appeared to be experiencing fear, and he approached Gaara with some hesitation due to his impending arrival.
Kankuro: Ga.. Ga.. Gaara.
Sasuke asked himself in his mind, "When he arrived behind me, who was that?" as he turned his head ever-so-slightly to look at the redhead who went by the name Gaara.
Everyone maintained their silence as they looked up at the peculiar but menacing redhead who was still hanging from the tree.
Gaara: Have you already forgotten the reason that we traveled all the way to Konoha in the first place?
With his question, he made Kankuro react, who quickly tried to excuse himself.
Kankuro: It's... listen, Gaara, they're the ones who started it.
Gaara: Silence.
Gaara cut Kankuro off and didn't stop him from finishing speaking. Scaring Kankuro even more, he immediately fell silent.
Gaara: Shut up, or else I'll kill you.
Gaara ended up staring at the kankuro. His cold gaze chilled the skin of some.
Gaara: Sorry, guys, for Kankuro's actions.
After he had finished his sentence, Gara vanished in a deluge of sand that washed down from the tree that stood in front of Tamari. Gara resumed his physical figure and gazed at the other beings he was traveling with.
Gaara: Let's go. We haven't come to play.
After turning around, the three sand ninjas started walking away from the spot. Everyone else watched them leave until Sakura finally spoke something.
Sakura: What business do Suna's ninjas have in the Village Hidden in the Leaves? I know that the Land of Fire and the Land of the Wind are natural allies, as one might expect. However, no Shinobi is permitted to enter the village of another without first receiving permission. Therefore, state your purpose, and make sure it's a good one.
Tamari: Really? Have you all been hiding under a rock this whole time, or what? You don't have a clue about what's going on, do you? We are allowed to enter this village with no problems. Of course, you are correct. We are hidden, Sand Genin. Where we come from is known as the Land of the Wind.
Goku: And you have all come to this location in order to participate in the Chunin selection examinations.
Naruto: The Chunin exams? What's that?
Well, I've never heard of any Chunin exams.
Tamari: All right, it seems to me that you have no idea what you're talking about.
Goku: Forgive my friend here. He's taken way too many blows to the head from that yandere with the pink hair over there, and it's starting to catch up to him.
Tamari: Hahaha.
Naruto/Sakura: Hey.
Konohamaru: To tell you the truth, boss, they are the tests that every Genin was required to take in order to advance to the level of Chunin.
Naruto: Oh, well, why didn't you say so? I'm so there.
At that moment, Sasuke jumped off the branch, landing next to Naruto.
Sasuke: Hey, what's your name?
The ninjas from Suna came to another stop, and all three of them turned back. Tamari was unable to continue because to speak as Sasuke lifted his hand and stopped her from finishing her sentence. Gaara was able to talk since the blonde kept her gaze fixed on him without breaking it.
Gaara: My name is Gaara of the Desert. I am also interested in learning your name.
Sasuke: I am Sasuke Uchiha.
Naruto: Hi there! I bet you're wondering what's my name too.
Gaara: I couldn't care less.
Goku: I hope to see you in the exams.
A member of the ANBU ninja suddenly materialized in front of Goku at that very instant.
ANBU: Son Kakarot, Lord Third Hokage, has requested your attendance in the Hokage tower.
Goku: Ok, I'll be there in a second.
Naruto: Hey, Konohamaru, do I seem uncool or something?
Konohamaru: Well, if we compared you with Goku and Sasuke, then yeah, you are.
Goku casts a glance out of the corner of his eye toward the top of a tree, where he spots three ninjas who appear to be startled at the realization that they have been found. They engaged in conversation that Goku was unable to identify, but he did not pursue the matter any further.
Goku: Well, see you guys later. See you at the house, Konohamaru.
Naruto: What's does he mean by that?
Konohamaru: He has been staying with us at grandpa's home recently. While I, Udon, and Moegi played ninja with him, he made cool wooden swords for us to play with.
Hokage Tower
Goku arrived at the Hokage office. He knocked on the door before going in.
Hokage: You can enter.
Goku: You call for me Hokage-sama.
Hokage: Yes, Goku, come on in and have a sit.
Goku would approach the Hokage desk and then sit down on one of the seats that were there.
Hokage: Goku, as you are aware, the Chunin examinations are going to take place in a few weeks, and I want you to participate in the examinations all by yourself. In order to accomplish this, I will have to pull a few strings with the council; however, before I do so, I want to try to warn you that the council will focus its unwelcome attention on you.
Goku: I accept the risk.
Hokage: Good. In the meantime, I want you to avoid being seen by the general public as much as possible. Therefore, I have decided to dispatch you, along with the rest of Asuma's squad, on a mission to deliver a vital scroll outside the village.
End of Chapter.
