-Thomas Pov-
You know, when one thinks of a battle royale, what comes to mind is constant one-on-one battles, with some variants having powers that shatter arena and worlds in the embrace of violence. Why was I pondering this? Well, I was waiting nearby a temple looking structure that was apart of the main building of jujutsu high.
"Man, this is boring" I said to Selena who sat beside me to keep me company. "I know master, but a battle should show up soon" said Selena. It seemed her prediction was correct as I heard the patter of sandals on the cobble floor. I looked up to see it was the Kamo kid. "Noritoshi, right?" I said making sure his name was right.
"Indeed, I wonder why you are waiting here?" he asked in a polite way. I took notice of his bow and arrows, and what looked like blood bags. "Waiting for an opponent" I said as I stood up and Selena disappeared. Appearing in my hand was a reinforced bokken sword. I had it made for official matches as my normal sword, Mugen, would be too much for battles like this.
"Ahh, may I have the privilage of taking upon myself that role?" he asked in such a formal way I wondered if he was trying to irritate me. "Your doing that to be annoying, aren't you?" I asked. "Of course, It was working so that means its a good tactic" said Noritoshi as he readied his bow and arrows which was tipped with a liquid that smelled of iron.
'Blood manipulation' I thought as I remembered the run down given to me about the three major clans and their inherited technique. The Kamo clan, one of the three great clans of the jujutsu world, was famous for being able to manipulate their own blood. It was a technique that did come with risk as they couldn't just regenerate their blood using reversed curse technique.
I readied my bokken as Noritoshi, who was a bit away, began to fire his crimson tipped arrows. Covering them was a blueish film that resembled an inky flame which covered the crimson arrow head. It was cursed energy which I was becoming used to being able to see and see with my own body.
I readied my blade as I infused magical energy of the water attribute onto my blade, providing a type of reinforcement using the eastern wu xing as a point of focus. It was a nice little concept to use during magic, as like the four classical elements, the wu xing cycle borrows ideas of creations structure to enhance and create spells, like the system of onmyodo.
I swung my blade as a wave of water was formed, knocking the arrows of the air. I then brought my blade down, swending a wave of water at my opponent. Noritoshi thought wasnt taking this lying down, and he dashed quickly out of the way using what looked like cursed energy reinforcements on his legs.
I then heard the distinct whistle of arrows cutting through the air and I quickly turned towards their direction as they shifted. I felt them coming from my back, a potential blindisde in battle. I of course could not let it hit me, even if it would have done no damage to me anyway due to my barrier. I shifted my feet and spinned out of their way as I focused mana near my feet.
Water began to materialize, pooling beneath the soles of my feet as they erupted into gysers, destroying the arrows with pressurised water. Then, using my connection with the water, I began to form it into spears which began to pursue the Kamo boy. The speed at which they attacked was not something to scoff at.
To the boys credit, he was evading them with some ease, and whenever one struck him he was protected using hardened blood around certain areas of his body. "Not bad, but can you handle this?" I asked as my sword was engulfed in condensed water magical energy, ready to surge forth like a bullet locked and loaded.
"Who knows?" he said with a soft smile, yet I could feel something loaded behind it. I then saw a bag of blood explode out of his hands and began to converge. The blood looked like it was being compressed to its absolute limit as he clapped his hands over it. I knew there was something behind the soft smile, like a predator ready to pounce on their prey.
Is it strange I am excited by this battle, as if I was being tested on my creativity in this battle, trying to figure out what might work and what might not. I took had a smile creep onto my face. The smile wasn't soft like his was, but it was a crazed smile as I thought about what I was doing.
"Piercing Blood!" he shouted as a stream of hyper-compressed blood was shout out from his fingers, using the condensed convergance of blood as his beginning steps. It must be the requirement for the technique to be used, so there might be more techniques for him to use using his condensed blood.
I readied my own technique, the condensed power which was swirling around it as the blood was almost reaching me. I readied my sword and I thrusted forth as a pressurized force of water which was condensed like the blood was, to its absolute limit as they began to compete for dominance.
I began to pour more mana into the spell and began fortifying it with a lot more power and piercing capabilities. It would seem I was beginning to win out and then on the peripherals of my vision was a couple of arrows tipped in the crimson blood of my opponent. I felt strangely proud of this, as if I saw someone do something great that I couldn't do. It was a feeling of elation that I wanted to match with one of my own.
The arrows themselves failed to pierce the defenses, and using my mana I was able to squish the arrows into a pulp. I jumped up from my spot as I now landed on the surface Noritoshi was standing on. "Hello there" he said as he fired another arrow which just clashed with my shield. It was almost a joke at this point I swear. I dashed forward, and I began to pull on the blessing Poseidon gave me.
Poseidon was a god of the seas, a man know by titles like Earthshaker. Poseidon had a lot of power among his pantheon, and if reading the books Selena has made for me made me realized something, was that a gods position in the pantheon as well as the domains they rule over was important to know especially in magical situations like this.
If we looked back in history, magic was alot more spiritual, drawing upon forces of nature as well as spirits who represent said nature. Prayer was a magic that was very prevalent during the bygone ages, as magic was essentially tied to the gods. So having a blessing from the gods was tantamount to having a piece of that gods authority within you, which was very useful for spells that aligned nicely with the gods domain.
Pulling on the blessing, I began to call upon the element of water as it began to flow from underneath my feet. It was like a cascading waterfall as it descended from the temple, a raging current sound echoing into my ears. It was a nice pleasant sound, one you could only hear in the bounties of nature.
The blessing began to fill and infiltrate all the water as it began to glow a bright hue. The divinity which the blessing was composed began to react with the other sources of water and began to pull from it. I felt every molecule of water begin to converge on the area, saturating it in the element. The temple was a perfect ground for a spell like this, the holy ground was perfect.
I then began to form handisigns, dance movements, and even had Selena interweave music into the whole ceremony, giving it a more complex feel. The elements and the world began to sway with me, and even the relentless barrage by Kamo in an attempt to stop the attack was met with futility, as his attacks never reached me in the first place.
The waters began to rage as something akin to a barrier was formed out of the elemental energies and I began my short incantation to Poseidon, pulling upon his power to bolster and complete the ceremony.
Oh righteous one of the waves, the angry one whose waves cascade in the sea
Sinker of boats, shaker of the earth
the fifth one, the son of time who is among the holy three
Your power I call upon, a tribute in offering I give
Let your power manifest here!

[A/N: Sorry for the late post, been tired the last few days. I think I'm improving in writing battle scenes, I did enjoy writing this one anyway. Hope you guys enjoy!]
