"Why is this happening?" She cried out, clinging onto his neck, just moments ago she was sharing a quiet moment now she feared the pain, would it resurface would it happen again?
"I just want to sleep I-I" she whimpered like a wounded animal, her head hung forward while Elynor reminded her to focus on taking deep full breathes.
"I know, Isolde. You're exhausted. Rest now," Elynor said softly, brushing a calloused finger across her damp forehead goosebumps lined her skin she felt clammy but his touch was a welcome distraction. He carefully lowered Isolde back onto the bed, tucking the blankets around her shivering form.
She felt the plushness of the pillows and sheets envelope her through groggy eyes she watched his form slowly retreat, fear gripped her heart she didn't want to be alone.
