Chapter 118 - Destroying a Horcrux

My mind flickered into a perfectly ordinary house, it's furniture dull and boring. Everything looked spotless and perfectly set in their places. It was night time and the television was on in the living room along with every light in the house. Stepping through the front door, I listened to screams and curses. Yelling echoed off the very walls as every now and then blood emerged on the floor boards or the walls.

Green light sparked every now and then, a feminine cry echoing out powerfully. The white walls around me were doused in blood and viscera, a male body slumping to the floor in a pile of flesh and organs. Glasses plopped out of it as if an afterthought to the actual death of the man.

Everything cleared within seconds though as I took a step forwards. Now there was the whipping of metal on leather... Leather on flesh... Someone was getting hit with a belt or something like it. There was no visual of this happening but the cries of pain from a young boy's throat could be identified. Another boy's voice shouted out in protest before a sharp crack could be heard and somewhere a body dropped to the floor in a pile. I couldn't see it, but there it was, vividly presented in my mind.

Another step forwards and I felt a shiver rush up my body. A cackle of laughter resounded as a voice resounded. "DIE LILY POTTER! JUST LIKE YOUR SON WILL SOON!!!" A hiss slithered through the shout, spreading until all of the walls slightly shifted as if they were snakes. "AVADA KEDAVRA! " One more step forwards brought me just in front of the closet under the stairs, the door locked and nailed closed. Sobs could be heard on the other side as food suddenly manifested below the door, being pushed through as if the person on the other side was a criminal.

A softer male voice spoke out, the voice of Dudley. "I-i'm sorry Harry... I can't do much for you... But, here is some food." His tone was sombre, depressed, helpless. A more masculine voice shouted dully in the background as the sound of footsteps faded away through the house. The food was snatched and once again the green light pulsed.

I reached down to the door and tried to open it. The entire surface turned into snakes and tried to bite back at me, a face of pure white pulling out from the wooden surface.

"Morsserpenta!" Light shimmered from my hand and ran over the entire door before all of the snakes hissed out one final breath, dying soon after as the door returned to normal, the face vanishing.

Gripping the door handle I pulled back, the door shattering within an instant as revealed behind it was a very small, decrepit boy huddled into the corner, hands over his ears as his scar flashed bright green and blue. Blue was Dumbledore's magic, Green was Voldemort's. Looking at the small boy I kneeled down and looked at him, sympathy bursting from me. My motherly instincts must have been kicking in because I felt a vile twisting in my stomach as I watched him cry out in pain silently, curled in on himself as he gripped his arms roughly with his fingernails, scraping his skin free from the action.

"Harry... You will no longer suffer from this abomination of magic. I make an oath to magic, if I cannot cleanse you of that Horcrux I will instead take it in your stead... May my divinity sanctify this oath." Energy pulsed around me before snapping back to what it once was, magic had acknowledged my oath.

"As for you... Voldemort," I spat the words as a scowl grew across my features, "You shall be consumed by Death, this fragment of your soul will experience the vilest of tortures and you shall ultimately meet the void." I stood up fully again and walked forwards, Harry flinching back in fear as I did so.

"I am sorry, Harry. But I will cleanse this, no matter if it reminds you of the horrors. Please stay strong. Do not lose to the darkness, I am here."

Rose-gold light and Cobalt magic flared around me as the very walls began to bend and refract. It was as if all of the material object suddenly became facets of light itself. Like shining light through a diamond my power was projecting itself everywhere within the building. Piercing through the physical echoes of walls and appliances. Green flashed again only to screech as the gale that was the death curse was staunched in but moments. The hissing and bloodshed vanished along with it as the green light within Harry's curse mark receded to a petulant flicker.

Taking my manifested magic through my fingertips I got within touching distance of Harry. He shivered and flinched, tears marring his cheek whilst his emerald green eyes stared back at me in fear. Biting down on my tongue I extended my right hand out to touch his lightning-bolt shaped scar. My movement wasn't made easy as he drew back into the corner as much as he could. His body spasmed as his arms hugged the walls behind him, his own blood dripping down his fingernails as dread filled him.

At the furthest most corner of his cupboard home I finally touched his scar and felt the vile acrid power of both Voldemort and Dumbledore. Both men had left a wound in him. Voldemort had tied his soul to Harry in a moment of fear and horror, a hidden, lost magic activating to consume his corporeal form. Dumbledore having connived to 'protect' Harry through several charms that would ensure he reached the proper age for him to die. Both of the wizards were horrid people, just in their own distinct ways.

None of that would matter for Harry much longer anyway... As my power flooded through him. My aura of games and entertainment exploded around me as playing cards, chess sets and multiple other types of games formed semi-corporeally. Strawberries and the smells of Spring fluttered into the once damp cloistered cupboard. The sensation of snow touching skin encompassed both me and Harry as my magic imposed a sense of calm over the entire ordeal.

And like the faint whisper of the wind upon the highest mountaintops, the Horcrux and any sign of foreign magical influence upon the boy was extinguished. In this instant I wove my godly aura into a simple tattoo... Right above the place where his scar used to be. A single lightning bolt coloured emerald and cobalt, interwoven with strawberries, small symbols of cards and a single skull.

Harry's eyes opened once again, but this time he exhaled in relief as he sagged back against the wall. He was beyond tired and I needed to leave his mind before my presence proved too powerful for him. Fragile as he was I wished not to even be within this space.

I pulled my consciousness and magic back, reeling backwards somewhat as I was hit by hundreds of flashes. From the death of Lily and James Potter to the killing of the Basilisk. All of it washed over me, as if I were the one to do it. Two ravens emerged upon my shoulders in an instant as they looked around the room, Huginn and Muninn both sensing the expenditure of power from me.

"P-professor!?" Blinking slowly I looked up towards Hermione, her usually concentrated face broken with signs of stress and concern.

I looked down and witnessed Harry, still standing, glow brightly as my blessing took effect within his soul, mind and body. Groaning, I could feel the Horcrux's soul evaporate and be consumed by my quirk; Apex. Moments later I felt perfectly fine once more, my evolution making me immune to the effects of soul exhaustion.

'Fuck i love you Apex...'

{... I could have given that to you as well...}

'I know. But Apex did it first.'

The system mumbled something before cutting out, my attention quickly reapplying itself to the young boy before me. His eyes were the same emerald green, flickering dimly with his magic as black hair framed those powerful gems. There was one major difference this time however... His scar, it was 'there'... But it looked more akin to a tattoo than an actual scar now and boy did power flow through it and into him perpetually.

"Ughhhh... F-freya?"

"Yeah kid, I am here. That magic was quite pesky... Even sapped me of some strength to cleanse it. Old Voldy is certainly mouldy." Hermione, through tears and sobs, stuttered out a laugh before she placed her hands on her knees and genuinely laughed like a little kid.

"I-I've never heard someone cool him 'mouldy'! Hahahaha" Harry smiled at her before beginning to laugh as well. He had changed, but for the better... And now, I just needed to get Peter Pettigrew and talk to the head of the DMLE, Amelia Susan Bones.

"Okay you two, meet me in this classroom tomorrow afternoon and we'll see about getting those tests done, shall we?" They both nodded as they collected their things and left the class, Huginn and Muninn cawing into my ear softly.

'Yes Huginn, you will watch Harry Potter for a while. Ensure that he isn't harmed or attacked, especially if Dumbledore uses his Phoenix.'

'~ Yes Goddess it will be done.~' Huginn vanished in a flash of feather, his invisibility allowing if to stalk the halls and watch the newly freed 'Boy-who-lived'.

'Muninn, I want you to start looking for an Obscurial. You know what they are from my memories, don't you?'

'~Indeed Mistress. Do you wish for me to procure you one, or simply inform you of its position?~'

'Just the position my friend. Be sure not to be caught by any witch or wizard while your out there.'

'~Your will be done, mistress.~' Muninn then flashed away, his speed bringing him into the depths of England within minutes as he hunted a rare magical entity for me.

'Maybe soon I'll be able to make my own focus.'

...

Kamar Taj...

In the ancient halls of this most esteemed magical institution a woman, completely bald, wandered within a magical library. This library was unlike many of its ilk around the globe, being of a stark, utilitarian design. All wonder was stripped from this place, all pomp was unnecessary... The job of those who study magic is not to dally amongst the lesser intents of normal humans. No, it is to protect all of humanity. To be the shield against a reality that wished to tare them apart and chew them up.

Sorcerers trained in the background, creating a din of activity that served to accentuate the silence within this library. In front of the bald woman were several chained books. One such slot was empty however, the chains melted into slag and the magics that protected them completely dispersed across the room. Rune remnants splattered the room as they were blood splatter from a body. The magic in this room was practically alive, and this singular magic was targeted and obliterated... Sentience of said magic was erased and the knowledge stolen.

"So it has begun." Her words were soft, foreboding but also expectant. It was as if something dark was about to happen, but it promised something good. Her words were heard by none however, as she stared down at this singular, empty, slot.

Pivoting abruptly she marched off, the eye of Agamoto dangling lucidly from her neck as she went. "It is time that I check in on my future protégé." The physical image of her legs faded as sparking magic consumed her form and made distance irrelevant.

If one were to look through this suddenly manifesting portal, they could distantly spot the Empire State Building sparking with lightning as rain poured down in buckets. This magic sparked out and closed, leaving the once pristine library of Kamar Taj, desecrated.
