August 6th, Thursday.
The positive reviews for Plants vs. Zombies continued to climb, and sales had surpassed 8,000 copies.
For a studio with no promotion or foundation, this was absolutely unimaginable.
Natsume glanced at the backend and muttered, "I should be able to pay off the remaining balance..."
Including the Water Stone and other items he had purchased, Natsume now owed 600W Pokémon Coins.
But with so much debt already, a little more didn't make much of a difference.
Besides, he still had some liquid funds. Making a few more games wouldn't be too difficult.
The daily random event, "finding an Eevee in the bed," happened as usual.
Natsume picked up the sleepy Eevee.
Taking advantage of the sunny weather, he changed the bedsheets.
"Eevee." Eevee nestled into its cat bed, letting out a reluctant cry.
"Haunter!" Haunter, holding a mop and bucket, cheerfully began cleaning the house.
Squirtle stretched and did a set of warm-up exercises, puffing up its cheeks to prepare for a Water Spout.
Natsume's expression changed. "Minimum power, please!"
"Squirtle." Squirtle chuckled awkwardly, spraying a thin stream of Water Gun as it followed Haunter's mop around.
Natsume worked hard for a while.
Wiping sweat from his brow, he muttered, "What the heck... why does it get messier the more I clean?"
Turning around, he saw Eevee standing in a puddle, excitedly splashing water.
"Eevee! o(*≧▽≦)ツ"
Natsume sighed, leaning on the mop and smiling helplessly.
"Whatever... as long as you're happy."
Finally, the room was clean by 10 a.m.
The three little ones sat at the dining table, waiting obediently for breakfast.
Natsume served them Berry salads.
The quiet breakfast was accompanied by the soft sounds of chewing.
The afternoon was free for now. The school team had just finished a friendly match and would be resting for a while.
Haunter, as usual, went to the Battle Club for part-time work.
Natsume held Eevee and turned on the camera, starting today's live stream.
As soon as the stream went live, countless eager viewers flooded in.
"Brothers, it's time to eat!"
"Natsume-sensei, your game is so much fun!"
"Can someone lend me 20 coins? I just want to see what the hype is about."
Natsume-sensei's followers were among the first users of the game.
At the audience's strong request, Natsume-sensei began a commentary session for Plants vs. Zombies.
"Hey, put Ferrothorn in the front row and Bellsprout in the back. They can't hit you, it's so annoying."
"This Raticate is so sneaky. My Victreebel can take it down in one bite. You're really cheeky!"
"Wow, is this level really that hard? Lawnmower, save me!"
A series of question marks floated across the chat.
You made the game yourself, and you can't even beat it?!
"I can't believe Natsume-sensei is so bad at his own game. This is hilarious!"
"If you think Natsume-sensei is bad, it's because you're on the first level, and he's on the fifth."
"Even in a tower defense game, he's missing stuff. Natsume-sensei is really off today!"
"Thanks to 'Team Rocket Grunt' for the plane... wait, Team Rocket is watching the stream?!"
The stream was filled with a lively atmosphere.
Although there were no live battles, the promotional effect was undeniably significant.
Natsume nodded in satisfaction and, as usual, glanced at the fish tank.
With Green's formula, Squirtle should be sleeping happily, right?
Strength is just a bonus...
Being a slacker is the real way to go!
Suddenly, Natsume froze.
The tank was empty. Squirtle had disappeared without a trace!
Natsume scratched his head. "It was fine this morning... did it sneak out with Haunter?"
"Whatever." Natsume's expression turned strange.
"It'll probably come back by mealtime."
"Eevee (*?ω-q)"
Eevee lay on Natsume's lap, letting out a lazy yawn before shifting positions and falling back asleep.
"Have you been gaining weight lately?"
"Eevee! Σ(っ°Д°;)っ"
Eevee immediately bristled and leaped off Natsume's lap.
Soon, the sound of Eevee running on its wheel echoed through the living room.
Natsume shook his head and laughed. "It should be fine..."
"It's not like it's going off to train by itself like Haunter, right?"
...
Haunter, wearing sunglasses, pushed open the door to the Bull Training Club.
Behind it was a Squirtle, also wearing sunglasses.
The receptionist's eyes lit up. "Oh, Coach Haunter, you're here!"
"Haunter!" Haunter pointed seriously at Squirtle behind it and nodded.
"Of course, no problem," the receptionist said with a smile. "Feel free to use the training facilities here!"
Haunter's popularity at the Bull Club was astonishing.
Although people were initially scared of the Ghost-type Pokémon, its personality eventually won everyone over.
If it hadn't joined recently, Haunter might have even become the club manager...
"Squirtle ヾ(?■_■)"
Squirtle adjusted its sunglasses.
It had come to learn a move from Haunter.
The Trainer probably didn't need to be involved in teaching simple moves.
Learning from Haunter would also strengthen their bond as teammates.
Squirtle narrowed its eyes, a glint of determination flashing through.
As expected of our Trainer, thinking so far ahead!
"Haunter!"
Haunter, also wearing ordinary sunglasses, exuded the aura of a troublemaker.
It led Squirtle to the training ground.
After rummaging through the shadows at its feet, Haunter suddenly pulled out a USB drive.
"Ta-da!"
"Squirtle?" Squirtle tilted its head in confusion.
Haunter gave Squirtle a disdainful look.
You can't even read properly, and you call yourself the Trainer's Pokémon?!
But since this was its little brother, Haunter put on a serious face and plugged the USB drive into the projector.
The large screen immediately began playing footage of Squirtle training Water Pulse.
Squirtle's face was filled with shock.
Haunter nodded in satisfaction.
It had copied this from Natsume's computer.
The Trainer probably didn't have time to train Squirtle.
Helping the Trainer share the burden was naturally part of Haunter's job.
"Haunter!"
Haunter imitated Natsume's mannerisms, patting its own shoulder with a proud smile.
That's my Haunter for you!
Squirtle was now fully focused on learning Water Pulse.
Although Haunter couldn't teach the move itself, with Squirtle's Aura Talent, mastering Water Pulse was a breeze.
Moreover, with the Water Stone and other items Natsume had provided, Squirtle's mastery of Water-type moves had reached new heights!
Using its aura, Squirtle closed its eyes and felt the movement of water within its body.
Combining its aura with Water Gun... spreading it outward, increasing the move's range and the frequency of the water's vibrations...
Squirtle suddenly opened its eyes, a sharp glint flashing through.
"Squirtle!" Squirtle opened its mouth wide.
A powerful surge of water formed a curtain that fell from the sky, crashing down with a roar. The vibrations from the water caused the ground to crack!
If Natsume had been there, he would have been frozen in shock.
This wasn't just Water Pulse—it was practically Surf-level power!
"Haunter." Haunter nodded in satisfaction.
Mastering Water Pulse in half an hour...
It's still far from my level, but not bad.
They say Pokémon grow to resemble their Trainers.
Haunter crossed its arms, nodding shamelessly.
Suddenly, Haunter noticed the cracked training ground and froze.
"Haunter Σ(°△°|||)︴"
The repair costs for this... wouldn't they come out of my pocket?!
"Haunter!" Haunter called out to Squirtle and quickly floated out of the training area.
Let's get out of here!
Squirtle paused for a moment, then its expression changed.
It hurriedly followed, its short legs scrambling to keep up.
