A girl with apricot-colored shoulder-length hair emerged from the water, dripping wet. She affectionately patted the Dewgong beside her and tied her short hair into a braid.
Her communicator lit up. Misty, wrapped in a towel, wiped the water droplets from her face and opened the video call.
On the screen, a burly man with squinting eyes and a dark complexion nodded and greeted her:
"It's been a while, Misty."
Misty smiled. "Is this about the Type Expert Tournament? I've just accepted a position on the Judges' Panel for the Water type."
Brock shook his head.
"It's something else. It's about a Squirtle belonging to a Breeding Master."
"Squirtle?" Misty was surprised. "A new Pokédex Holder?"
The burly man crossed his arms, pondered for a moment, and then nodded. "Could be."
"Anyway, I recommended you to Natsume-sensei…"
Misty blinked. "Natsume-sensei!"
"You know him?"
"I mentioned him to Sister Lorelei before," Misty said with a smile. "That video on the Perish Song Strategy gave me a lot of inspiration!"
Brock nodded. "That's great. The group will have more to discuss then."
"What group?" Misty was slightly puzzled.
As she spoke, she glanced down at her mobile phone, and her face immediately turned red.
To avoid any awkwardness, she had even deleted Red's contact information. She never expected it to come up like this…
Misty's face flushed as she carefully considered her words. "How… how are he and Yellow doing?"
"They're doing well," Brock, the straight-shooting guy, nodded. "We're all followers of Natsume-sensei."
Misty was taken aback, feeling a slight pang of disappointment, but she shook her head.
No need to overthink it… It's just a casual conversation.
"I'll do my best to summarize Water-type techniques and pass them on to Natsume-sensei."
After a long moment of thought, Misty suddenly smiled.
"Please thank Natsume-sensei for me!"

Yellow, who has a crush on Red but hasn't confessed yet.
And Misty, who tried to get close but was ignored by the blunt Brock…
Natsume keenly sensed a hint of a love triangle brewing.
Poor Red, probably still training hard at Mt. Silver, completely unaware of the drama unfolding behind his back.
"What a Battler… more like a harem protagonist!" Natsume thought to himself.
Natsume looked up at the sky, silently mourning for Red for three seconds.
Perhaps being a Battler means surviving through countless love triangles…
Even though he couldn't afford Green's textbooks.
The newly joined Misty had just gifted Natsume-sensei something valuable.
"Water Pulse Move manuals?" Natsume raised an eyebrow.
Misty smiled. "This move is perfect for Squirtle, and it includes some of my personal notes."
"If you use a Water Stone or Mystic Water, the training results will be even better."
Natsume's expression changed. "How much would that cost?"
"Not much…" Misty thought for a moment. "Around two or three million Pokémon Coins should cover it."
Natsume's breath hitched.
"I… don't think I need that right now."
"That's fine, you can keep it for now," Misty said with a smile.
"Maybe the Pokémon can train on its own!"
Natsume was stunned.
"Uh… not funny? It's a pretty famous joke in Kanto…"
Misty seemed to realize her joke fell flat and awkwardly chuckled.
Natsume's expression turned strange.
His biggest fear was that Misty's words might come true.
And this so-called "joke" had already happened to him several times…
Natsume sighed deeply.
"Why do I feel like paying off that five million Pokémon Coins is becoming more and more impossible?"
...
After receiving the Water Pulse Move manuals from Misty.
Even though Squirtle could master the move on its own, Misty was a Water-type Expert, and her notes on the move were unique.
As for other Water-type Pokémon Breeding Methods, Haunter probably wasn't well-versed in those.
Natsume decided to study them himself and use them to improve Squirtle's diet.
As the night deepened.
Cynthia, who rarely had free time, called, and the two chatted about recent happenings.
When Cynthia heard that Natsume had caught a Squirtle, she chuckled. "They say a Pokémon's nature becomes more like its Trainer over time."
Natsume glanced at the sneaky Squirtle and shook his head.
"I'm not that much of a goofball."
Squirtle looked innocent, but it was actually scouting the surroundings, memorizing every possible escape route.
"Squirtle ヾ(?■_■)"
Gotta gather intel first to make a solid training plan!
Squirtle's approach had always been this cautious.
Moreover, Eevee's strength had left a deep impression on Squirtle.
If even a tiny Eevee could be that strong…
It was hard to imagine how powerful future opponents would be!
Squirtle adjusted its sunglasses.
So, the top priority now was to improve its own strength and keep it hidden…
Only then could it secure victory.
Squirtle narrowed its eyes, a glint of determination flashing within.
A true warrior hides their strength and waits for the right moment to strike!
The night grew late.
Natsume played a few games with Cynthia.
What was supposed to be a short session ended up lasting until the early hours.
After drinking some Moomoo Milk, Natsume, who never carried fatigue into the next day, fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
The room was pitch black and silent.
Squirtle poked its head out of its shell, planning to sneak out under the cover of darkness, but suddenly froze.
In front of it were two sneaky figures.
"Squirtle?!" Squirtle was shocked.
Had its secret training plan been discovered?!
Eevee and Haunter were equally stunned.
Haunter stared for a long moment before extending a claw toward Squirtle.
"Haunter?" (Wanna join?)
Squirtle was confused.
Wait… I'm not the only one planning to train in secret?
Or have you guys been doing this all along?!
"Squirtle! (T▽T)"
When the ones stronger than you are also working harder, life just isn't fair!
Eevee tapped twice on Squirtle's hard shell, its eyes sparkling with a friendly smile.
"Eevee~!"
Squirtle: ?▽?
...
For once, Natsume wasn't woken up by Eevee stepping on him.
He stretched, feeling refreshed, and got out of bed.
When he lifted the blanket, he wasn't surprised to find Eevee still fast asleep.
The little one looked so peaceful and cute in its sleep that Natsume couldn't resist poking its paw pads, only to have it swat his hand away.
Natsume couldn't help but smile.
But the next second, when Natsume looked at Squirtle, he was startled. "What the—?"
"Squirtle…"
Squirtle, bruised and battered, poked its head out of its shell and waved at Natsume.
Natsume's expression turned odd as he thought about his Pokémon's late-night training habits. He muttered:
"Looks like Eevee really likes you… This is just its way of saying hello…"
Squirtle: ?
"But this is ridiculous!" Natsume said, annoyed.
"Squirtle!" Squirtle nodded tearfully, clearly moved.
"At least use Withdraw!" Natsume scolded, exasperated.
"Take a few more hits, and maybe you'll learn Iron Defense or something!"
"Squirtle?! Σ(°△°|||)︴"
I might not be human, but you're definitely something else!
