Date: FEB-14, 2002/2:10 AM HAVN Facility-Upper Level/Research Area: Observatory Level; The Medical Wing: Treatment Area-C/Emergency Operations: Second Area Three more of Hyun-woo Dae's men have died, and they are only killed two of the Scavengers, Hyun-woo and one of his men standing beside him, were shooting the scavenger in front of them. Their gunfire alerted the other groups, with one realizing that he was alone, which meant another one has died. This lone soldier, called out to his teammate in a futile hope that he was still alive, but was only meet with gunfire being done by the others.
All the while the still living scavanger mutate, discarded it kill, and slithered away in the dark, avoiding all the gunfire and light. Getting away from the danger, and passing through a large hole in the farside of the area. A hole made by several scavangers, searching for a great hiding spot, and also where other of this mutate varient, reside as well. Meanwhile the three groups have killed two scavengers, tearing those monsters bodies to shreds, Hyun-woo looking down at the body of another one of his men, dead, filled him with anger and frustration. Soo much so that he yelled out in Korean, "젠장!/Jenjang! (Damn it!)" He took a moment to get himself together, before he reached for his radio, and saying his orders, "시체에서 유용한 것을 가져가세요...존중하세요.../Sicheeseo yuyonghan geos-eul gajyeogaseyo...Jonjunghaseyo... (Take anything useful from the bodies...be respectful...)" Hyun-woo looked down at his dead subordinate one last time, and paid respects for a fellow soldier, "이제 쉬세요. 당신은 명예롭게 싸웠어요./Ije swiseyo. Dangsin-eun myeong-yelobge ssawoss-eoyo. (Rest now. You fought with honor.)" before he took his assault-rifle, and some ammo. Leaving the rest of the team to loot the bodies of their fallen teammates. Hyun-woo was clearly being affected by everything that he and his team were facing in this place, all that training and dedication to his country, has never prepared him for this kind of situation.
As he calmed himself, as best that he can. As Hyun-woo, he turned around and saw his remaining men, paying their respected to their fallen comrade. He waited for his team to take what could find useful, and taking an opportunity he began to check the area on his own.
Date: FEB-14, 2002/2:33 AM HAVN Facility-Upper Level/Research Area: Observatory Level; Dr. Lunara's Private Office Lunara watched as two more soldiers, from these intruders have just been killed by the scavenger mutate varient. She rubbed her temple and sighed, thinking these people are proving to be more liability, over a necessity. But regardless she needed, a least one of these soldiers to survive, a person with capable combat and survival abilities to be able to pass the "Haunting Grounds" and probably survive an encounter with the EVEs. At the same moment Lunara managed to establish connections with the lower levels, and even communicated with the Subjects trapped in that level, being hunted down by BETA.
Lunara, she provided the best assistance to those Subjects, even telling them of the location of a rec-room for employees which they used to treat their wounded. Also she told them of the only escape route, using the emergency access elevator, which needed several "keycodes" to access the entire facility, which includes the back exit of HAVN, in the Upper Levels. Lunara was impressed with these Subjects, ingenuity and cooperation to escape and survive BETA. Lunara finds it ironic, that this team was composed of the most...innovative...Subjects of the NEMESIS Project. Which also includes the Whistle-blower, Andrew M. Jacoby, who has been the most interesting of these people, even saving a couple of them from BETA's axe.
Lunara kept watching the monitor on her computer screen, showing her how both groups struggle to survive. If it wasn't for the current situation she'll admit this would have been quite the experiment. But now she needs that both group, have high or at least a couple of survivors to come together, as the elevator that they're rushing to use, will lead them to each other group, and the rule of "better odds with numbers" will increase their percentage of survival. Especially when they come across one of the ALPHA-NEMESIS, she chuckled, adjusted her glasses and position on her chair, and continue to watch. As currently the soldiers, have reached the next area of the Treatment Area-C...
Date: FEB-14, 2002/3:06 AM HAVN Facility-Upper Level/Research Area: Observatory Level; The Medical Wing: Treatment Area-C/Emergency Operations: Third Area; Sample Storage The Korean soldiers have reached the third area. Unlike the first or the second areas, this seems to be somekind of multiple section, storage area. Shelves of glass containers allover the dark place, as they continued to traverse the area, they started finding clear signs of struggle and death. Blood, bodies, and knocked over shelves as well as broken glass, allover the floor. It was clear that more of these monsters, were hiding in this area as well.
Hyun-woo told his men, "경계하세요! 대형을 유지하세요! 나타나는 모든 것을 쏘세요./Gyeong-gyehaseyo! Daehyeong-eul yujihaseyo! Natananeun modeun geos-eul ssoseyo.(Stay alert! Stay in formation! Shot anything that appears.)" the men, responded with firm confirmation. As they together went further into the sample storage area. All of them in high alert, and aware of one another, so no sneak attacks reoccur, like in the other area before.
In the dark, several serpentine horrors were crawling around, avoiding the lights but also sudlely getting closer to the soldier at the sametime. Scavengers while skittish their fight or flight responses are quite strange. If preferred they'd remain in the darkness, but their fear and disdain to light, make them aggressive.
A couple more steps further into the area. Passing shelve after shelve, shining their flashlights through the open gaps between them, only for Hyun-woo while looking around he spotted a rolling beaker on the floor. He made some hand signal, commanding his men to hold in place, get ready, and be alert, as Hyun-woo started walking down the path of the rolling beaker. Hyun-woo kept his gun ready, slowly making his way forward, occasionally catching quick glimpses around for any signs of those mutates.
He felt that he was being watched, and knew he was heading straight into danger. But in order to take out these monsters, they needed to bring them out in the open. Hyun-woo, he already lost two men cause of these things, so this time he'll be the bait.
As he kept on walking forward, Hyun-woo saw on the floor some movement, so he stopped and reached for his radio. Hyun-woo said to his men, "나는 곧 시작할 거야. 어떤 일에도 대비할 거야./Naneun god sijaghal geoya. Eotteon il-edo daebihal geoya.(I'm about to engage, be ready for anything.)" they responded that they'll be ready, and Hyun-woo shut off his radio. He continued forward, with his gun ready.
He reached the end of path, and it was quiet, slowly shining his light-source around to see, while keeping his senses sharp. That's when the hair on the back of his neck stood-up, and in a act of pure instinct, he ducked barely managing to dodge the deadly swipe from a Scavenger. Quickly turning around he shun his flashlight onto the mutate's face, that tried to kill him, burning it and causing it to hiss and groan in pain. Without thinking he pulled the trigger of his assault-rifle, shooting the scavenger several times in the head, making a kill. Knowing that he wasn't out of danger yet, he got up and ran back through the same hall that Hyun-woo originally ran through.
As Hyun-woo ran he heard the noises behind him, it was clear that his plan has worked and now he was being chased. Breathing heavily and adrenaline surging through his veins, Hyun-woo reached his radio and gave his order, "남자들은 준비하세요, 적들은 내 뒤에 있습니다! 나를 발견하면, 사격을 시작하세요, 명령입니다!/Namjadeul-eun junbihaseyo, jeogdeul-eun nae dwie issseubnida! Naleul balgyeonhamyeon, sagyeog-eul sijaghaseyo, myeonglyeong-ibnida!(Men get ready, hostiles are behind me! When you managed to see me, start shooting that is a order!)" Cutting off his radio, he spotted five sources of light, and he slide as his men started to fire their guns, hitting several scavangers that were chasing Hyun-woo. Hyun-woo roll onto his chest, and aim behind and join in the gunfire, shooting his assault-rifle as well.
Six guns firing hit and killed several of the mutates, but a couple of them were just wounded, scrambled away. Their bodies smashing against the shelves, causing a chain reaction, knocking down one shelve after another. As this happened Hyun-woo yelled to his men to run, as glass beakers falling and breaking onto the floor.
The sound of smashing shelves and shattering glass, behind them as they desperately ran for the exit. The six soldiers running with all their energy, but with their focus on escaping the falling shelves and beakers, they forgot that they aren't the only things in that room. One of the scavengers, managed to reach one of the soldiers that falling behind, one of the mutate's sickle-hands, stabbed and hooked the leg of soldier. Screaming in pain, as he was pulled to floor and the shelves smashed him and the scavenger to death. Blood and gore splatter into the floor, behind the rest of the team.
This meant that even in this dangerous situation, the Scavengers were still chasing them. Some even being crushed or slashed apart from the broken shelves and glass. Hyun-woo, couldn't believe that creatures that abhor light, weren't that caring of self-preservation from things that aren't light.
They were about to reach the exit to the next area, a couple of scavengers came at them from the front. Still running forward, they shoot at that the monsters, killing a few of those mutates. But one still barely alive, kept crawling forward at them, with its sickle-hands held high. A soldier in the front was shooting it over and over, but before the scavenger dropped dead, it managed to stab its sickle-hands into his chest. Blood splashing onto Hyun-woo and the other, as both the soldier and scavenger fell dead onto the floor, and they ran passed them, leaving them to be buried under shelves and glass. The remaining of their team, rush through the open exit of storage area, and onto the final part of the Treatment Area-C.
Date: FEB-14, 2002/3:43 AM HAVN Facility-Upper Level/Research Area: Observatory Level; The Medical Wing: Treatment Area-C/Emergency Operations: Final Area Running straight into the last area of this sector, with only four of the Korean soldiers still alive, Hyun-woo included. After that massive accident in the previous area, they were being chased by a large amount of Scavengers, their groaning, ground-scrapping sickles, and glass being moved around getting closer and closer to them. The new area is more secure than the others, with nothing for those monster to hide behind, just a straight path with some doors at the sides. And what seems to be a guard station near the entrance. Hoping to get any supplies, to be able to survive the incoming wave of mutates, still coming to them, Hyun-woo, he ordered his men to head towards it.
They smashed through the door of the guard station. They started to search the station, and by good fortune they found some some armor vests and guns in the locker. Hyun-woo instructed his men to collect some Fabrique Nationale Five-Sevens, and some Heckler & Koch HK-MP7s, now armed with new guns and ammo. Hyun-woo personally took a Bushmaster M4-Type and eight ammo-clips, along with some flashbang grenades. They were now more prepared to face the monsters, Hyun-woo turned to his men and told them, "들어봐. 그 괴물들이 오고 있고, 엘리베이터는 이 구역 끝에 있어. 함께 모여서, 단단한 대형을 이루고, 이 괴물들 중 가장 가까운 놈을 쓰러뜨리고, 계속 움직여. 알겠어!?/Deul-eobwa. Geu goemuldeul-i ogo issgo, ellibeiteoneun i guyeog kkeut-e iss-eo. Hamkke moyeoseo, dandanhan daehyeong-eul ilugo, i goemuldeul jung gajang gakkaun nom-eul sseuleotteuligo, gyesog umjig-yeo. algess-eo!? (Listen. Those monsters are coming, and the elevator is at the end of this area. Stay together, in tight formation and take down the closest of these monster, and keep moving. Understood!?)" They nodded and responded, "로저 선생님!/Lojeo seonsaengnim!(Roger, sir!)" and they left the guard station.
When they left the guard station, the sounds of the Scavengers were much closer than before. With their guns loaded, and primed, they got into a four-point formation. And they started to backtrack with their guns trained at the entrance to the area.
In a few moments, the first scavengers crawled into the area. At Hyun-woo Dae's command they started firing at the mutates, as they went to the other side of the area. As they took down a Scavenger, a couple more entered the place, chasing after them and their light-source.
Killing every scavenger that rushed at them. Their ammo was quickly depleting they switched to their newer weapons, both in a final act to reserve their original ammunition, and fight back against the mutates. Hyun-woo wanted to continue fighting, but one of his men told him, "사령관님! 우리가 당신을 지켜줄게요, 당신은 엘리베이터로 달려가세요!/Salyeong-gwannim! Uliga dangsin-eul jikyeojulgeyo, dangsin-eun ellibeiteolo dallyeogaseyo! (Commander! We'll watch your back, while you rush ahead to the elevator!)" Hyun-woo looked at him, seeing the seriousness in his subordinate eyes, he nodded. Lowering his assault-rifle, and turning around to run as fast as he can to the elevator, all the while his three remaining men held back the Scavengers.
As they fought on, killing any scavenger that got closer to them, Hyun-woo was scrambling to find the elevator door, desperate to find it, and provided his men with a escape. They kept on shooting but unfortunately one of them empty his sub-machine gun, and was torn apart by several scavangers. His screams reaching Hyun-woo, but at last he saw the elevator door before them, Hyun-woo pushed ahead speeding-up, and reaching for the operation panel on the side. Pressing the button, the elevator made a ding sound, as the doors slide open.
He went to the entrance, keeping the doors open, as he reached for his radio. He told his men that he has reached the elevator, and was waiting for them. But as the noise of gunfire was dwindling and their wasn't any response, Hyun-woo, he kept yelling at them to answer him and rush over to him!
He was about to go back, when someone answer back finally. Telling him, "사령관님! 가세요! 우리를 떠나세요! 여기서 나가서 임무를 끝내세요!/Salyeong-gwannim! Gaseyo! Ulileul tteonaseyo! Yeogiseo nagaseo immuleul kkeutnaeseyo! (Commander! Go! Leave us! Get out of here, and finish the mission!)" Hyun-woo was about to yell back, for them to stop and get over to him, when...a explosion. A couple of them, they've...they've set off some grenades...yelling Hyun-woo, went inside the elevator and closed the doors. Walking over to the side, he slide off the smooth, chrome surface and smashed his fist onto the wall. He was all that remains of his team, and now he was descending a literal elevator to Hell, to God knows what was waiting for him...
