Chapter 19 - 19. D Rank Quests Not

The carriage with Armaros and the three girls reached the city as it got the permission to get inside after the guards looked inside. They also recognised Armaros as he had become familiar to them as he would leave the city from time to time as well. They gave the carriage the permission to enter after seeing the three girls as well.

The carriage reached the church and the nun and a priest came to receive the girls. But they were surprised when they looked inside and saw Armaros sitting in the back with the three girls leaning on him. One on his left, one on his right and the last one was sitting on his lap as the three of them were hugging him with trembling bodies.

Armaros himself looked at the members of the Church as he felt pretty embarrassed about the situation as he knew how he seems to them at the moment.

"They huddled to me when we were on our way. I saved them so I think they feel safe around me." Armaros said to them as he gestured to the three girls.

"That is not uncommon. We were informed about it so we were ready. Can you escort the girls to the inside of the church with us. I think it would be best for the moment." The priest said to him as he nodded.

"Alright. Come on, let's go." Armaros said as he slowly stood up.

The three girls didn't say anything but they followed his words as he disembarked from the carriage as the rider bid him thanks and farewell before he left the area. After that Armaros followed the priest and nuns with the three girls following them as the nuns made sure to hold the hands of the girls gently.

Girls like them, being traumatized due to the experiences in the dungeon aren't new. And due to the nature of the goblins, even if most girls are alive and saved by Adventurers, they are scared for life due to the trauma that they experienced.

But the Churches, no matter it's affiliation, have wards to take care of said girls and anyone with trauma, as it is the dogma of their faith to help the needy and helpless.

Armaros knew about it since Rhia taught him about it during one of the times she was teaching him. The guild member had taken it upon herself to educate him about the normal things and proceedings in the city, and he is grateful for her help if nothing else.

"Young man, this much is enough. We will take it from here." The priest said to him with a smile.

"Okay. The Church will take care of you and protect you, so you don't have to worry." Armaros said to the three girls.

But the girls weren't reassured as they grabbed onto his arms as he sighed as he looked at them, and he could see the trembling of their eyes as he gently smiled at them as he freed his arms as he looked at them.

"How about this. I will come visit you from time to time, and the three of you will stay in the church, okay." Armaros said to them with a smile.

"O-Okay." One girl said with the other two doing the same as he smiled at that.

"Okay. The Church will protect you. May the God of Light grant you a great day." Armaros said to them with a gentle smile.

The three girls nodded at that as they couldn't bring themselves so say anything, though there was some light in their eyes as they looked at him. He turned to the priest and nuns as he looked at them.

"I will be leaving now. Thank you for your hospitality." Armaros said to them respectfully.

"It is not a problem at all. You have saved the lives of these three girls, so you have our utmost trust. May the God of Light grant you a great day." The priest said with the nuns following his lead as they also wished him.

Armaros nodded at that as he left the Church as the three girls watched him leave as they clenched their hands as they saw him go.

Armaros left the Church and went to the guild building as he went inside and went to Rhia and have the quest sheet to her as she looked at it with a smile.

"How did it go?" Rhia asked gently.

"I killed the goblins and saved three girls. I came back here with the Church." Armaros said to her as her eyes widened.

"O-Oh. Well, I'm glad that you were there to help them." Rhia said to him with a smile as she looked at him.

'I wonder how that sight effected him. Something like that is not a pleasant sight, especially for a boy his age. I didn't think that the goblins would have girls with them.' Rhia thought to herself as she documents the quest completion and gave him the rewards.

"Here you go. Will that be all for today?" Rhia asked him with a smile.

"Yeah, that's enough for me today." Armaros said to her with a smile.

"Okay, just make sure to rest your body." Rhia said to him with a gentle expression.

"Okay. Have a good day at work." Armaros said as he left the guild building.

He looked at the sky as it was evening as he sighed to himself and went to a blacksmith's shop. He went inside and looked at the equipment in there, as there were swords, shields and other weapons and armour on display. There were also other tools for normal people to use as well.

"Welcome to my shop. See anything you like?" The owner said as he looked at him.

"I just want to take a look around." Armaros said as the man nodded at that.

Armaros saw many armor and weapons, and some of them were of a higher quality, but they obviously costed more. He looked at the chainmail before he decided to grab them and some armor for his chest as he tried them and then brought it to the man alongside a knife as well.

'While I have a good sword, it won't hurt to have some armor and a knife for a surprise attack.' Armaros thought to himself as he bought the equipment.

He then went back home and then put the armor on and tried it as he hummed to himself. While the armor was a bit heavy, it wasn't much of a problem for him as he did some movements and sword techniques slowly as he got used to the new armor and chainmail.

He then trained a bit with his knife as it was also pretty good. Though it troubled him a bit since he was used to training with the sword, but he managed to get a hang of it as he was pleased with himself.

'Good, I'm at least adequate with a knife. I'll keep it as a hidden weapon.' Armaros thought to himself as he looked at the knife and put it in its sheath.

After that he trained to get used to the knife and he practiced pulling it out as quickly as he could so that he isn't caught off guard and is unable to use it. After all, he does need to be able to take the knife out immediately if the sword isn't a viable option.

'If nothing else I could use it to kill people silently and in small places.' Armaros thought to himself as he looked at the knife.

"I managed to become a D rank Adventurer, so I guess things are looking up for me. But I do have the scabbard as well. Why are things so complicated." Armaros grumbled to himself as he sat on the bed as he thought about what to do tomorrow.

Timeskip

"I really had to open my mouth." Armaros said as he narrowly dodged the attack of an orc.

'This was supposed to be a simple escort quest! How did an orc get here!?' Armaros thought to himself as he felt the absurdity of the situation.

It was the first quest he took for the day, which was to escort a merchant's carriage to a village as they had bought from the merchant. The carriage was going through a route which was frequented by many and was very safe. Except when he and the carriage were going through a forest, 6 orcs surrounded them which caused him to attack immediately and kill the one in front of the carriage as he used his Holy Light to attack and move the other five.

'Tch. I have to keep the attention of the orcs on me. Until the carriage leaves the forest.' Armaros thought to himself as he leaned his head back as the club of an orc flew right over his face.

Orcs are powerful brutes, but they didn't have much in the magical department. They are naturally very strong physically, possessing large and powerful bodies and even one Orc is too much for a D rank Adventurer.

Fortunately for him, the training he received ensured that he has enough experience to take them all on. As the orcs don't have the same speed that he has as he weaved through their attacks.

He quickly slashed their wrists to make them incapable of using their weapons as he had just slashed the wrist of the last one as it roared in pain and anger.

Armaros jumped over the punch of another as it's large hand swung under him as he landed on the ground as he jumped back and made distance between him and the orcs as he gripped his sword tightly.

'Alright, I have to do it quickly.' Armaros thought to himself as he used Mana to enhance himself.

He then lunged towards the orcs at great speed as he decapitated the first one, then stabbed the next right through its head. He then used his legs and jumped back using its shoulders as a foothold as he landed on a tree and ran to the rest of the orcs as they roared and charged at him.

He immediately made a sphere of Light and threw it at them as it exploded and enveloped the three orcs as they roared as he grit his teeth as he looked at them as the third orc had died with the other two being damaged badly with their bodies burned and singed as they staggered.

He made mana flow through his body as he shot towards the two orcs and in one fluid motion decapitated the both of them as he landed on the ground. Though he staggered as he almost fell on the ground as he panted as he stopped using Mana as the pain stopped as he sighed in relief.

"Just what the hell is wrong with me using magic?" Armaros said to himself as he stood up and sighed to himself as he swung his sword and rid it off the blood on it.

He then sheathed it as he made his way to carriage as he made sure to take the ears of each of the orcs before going to the carriage as he wanted to have proof to show that he had indeed killed them after all.

'Well, it will give me good credit at the least.' Armaros thought to himself as he ran out of the forest and to the carriage which was going away from the forest.

"I wonder what Rhia will think about what I've done?" Armaros mused out of loud as he went towards the carriage.
