Marian's POV
By the time we reached Aiden's estate, the tension in my chest had settled into something colder. Sharper. The kind of focus that came when I knew I was about to step into something deeper than I anticipated.
The guards at the gate recognized my car and waved us through without question. The long driveway, lined with towering trees, stretched ahead, their shadows dancing under the dimming sky.
Aiden was already waiting at the entrance, arms crossed, his gaze unreadable. His sharp eyes flicked over me first, then Summer, before settling back on me.
"You both left the house without telling me," he said, his tone deceptively calm.
I rolled my eyes as I stepped out of the car. "Nice to see you too, dear husband."
Summer sighed beside me. "We weren't sneaking out, Aiden. We just had things to do."
His jaw tightened slightly. "And I assume one of those things included being followed?"
