Chapter 92 - deep down

Marian's POV

We pulled up to the mall, one of the many properties under my name. I rarely involved myself in its day-to-day operations, preferring to leave that to the people I hired. But with everything that had been happening lately, I figured it was time to start paying closer attention.

The parking lot was packed, with cars filling almost every available space. Shoppers moved in and out of the glass entrance, some carrying bags, others chatting with companions. The familiar hum of conversation, the distant music from the stores, and the rich aroma of food wafting from the food court hit me as I stepped inside.

Summer glanced around, unimpressed. "So what exactly are we doing here?"

I didn't break stride as I responded. "Making sure my business isn't falling apart."

"Riveting," she deadpanned.
