Isla turned to the door as a soft knock landed on it. She barely heard it over Kai's loud giggles as he stacked wooden blocks onto each other. She rubbed the top of his head scattering in thick white hair. His hair had gotten longer and he didn't want to cut it anymore. She rushed to the door when the knock came again but louder this time.
She wiped her dirty hand on her gown before opening the door.
A guard stood there, an awful scowl playing on his face. He stood rigidly staring at the top of her head as he avoided making direct eye contact with her.
"Hello?" She said, holding the door frame tightly in her hand. "What do you want?"
"There's an old lady that is causing a scene outside" he started. "She said she needs to see you before she leaves. We tried to get her to leave but she is very stubborn"
Isla's brows drew together. "A woman wants to see me? Why didn't you tell Zade?"
"He's not in right now. But she said her name is Mira?"
Isla froze.
