Linda showed up with gifts, ready to bribe her way in and maybe charm the staff, but they weren't having any of it. "I'm related to the Carter family," she said, trying to slip past. "I just want to visit them. Let me in for a bit."
The staff had been given strict orders to keep an eye out for her. "If you're really their relative, how come you don't know they've already moved? Except for Jaden, who might come by soon, the rest of the family moved into the city. They're not coming back."
Linda blinked, surprised. "They moved? Where in the city?"
The staff, clearly losing patience, shrugged. "If you don't know, why would we? Now please leave. We've got work to do."
With no other option, Linda wandered around asking the villagers. They all told her the same thing: "Jaden took on the contract for the barren land here and hired an engineering team to develop it. The old house isn't good for recovering, so the family packed up and won't be living here anymore."
