Satoshi and Misty prepared themselves for battle as the Team Rocket members approached. Unaware of their presence, the Rocket members continued their conversation, providing some unexpected information.
"Lord Koga, we've scouted several areas of Mt. Moon. We only found a few scattered Machops, but no signs of Machoke or Machamp," one member reported respectfully.
"We used instruments to verify—there's no evidence of continental plate shifts causing the Machop family to migrate. A thorough investigation will take time to confirm any human involvement," the subordinate added.
Koga's sharp voice cut in. "There's no need to investigate further. If it's not a natural cause, then it's likely human interference. Relay this information to the boss and let him decide."
Another member chimed in, "We've also managed to excavate some Moon Stones. The mission here is nearly complete. Should we prepare to retreat?"
Hearing this exchange, Satoshi furrowed his brows. So it wasn't Team Rocket who captured the Machop family? Interesting... seems I'll need to reconsider my suspicions.
Before he could process the revelation further, the Rocket team arrived, their presence announced by mocking laughter.
"Well, well, what do we have here? A couple of kids wandering around in a dangerous place like this? Looking for some thrills, perhaps?"
The voice belonged to a man wearing the signature black Team Rocket uniform with a red scarf around his neck. His face was mostly hidden by a cap, but the confident, almost regal tone in his voice was unmistakable.
This was Koga, one of Team Rocket's Executives.
"If I didn't already know your identity, I might mistake you for an ordinary Rocket captain," Satoshi thought, impressed by Koga's well-crafted disguise.
Koga's sharp eyes scanned the Pokémon standing with Satoshi and Misty. His smirk faded as he recognized their strength. "Hmm, these aren't ordinary trainers. Interesting..."
Satoshi and Misty exchanged glances, and Satoshi stepped forward, his tone firm. "Team Rocket, did you steal Pokémon from Cerulean City a week ago? Were they used for biological experiments?"
Koga raised an eyebrow, his smirk returning. "Oh? The owner of the stolen goods has come looking for them? How bold. But you've made a big mistake coming here."
Misty's anger flared as she stepped forward. "Answer me! Did you steal my Gyarados and subject it to experiments?"
Koga chuckled mockingly. "Gyarados? We've conducted so many experiments, it's hard to keep track of every little Pokémon."
His dismissive tone and arrogant demeanor pushed Misty to the edge. "You—! I won't forgive you!" she shouted, her voice shaking with rage as she reached for Staryu's Poké Ball.
Satoshi quickly stepped in, pulling Misty back. "Calm down. Let me handle this," he said, his voice steady.
Turning to his Pokémon, he issued orders. "Frogadier, you're up. Show them what we're made of."
Frogadier stepped forward, its body coiled and ready for action.
Koga's eyes gleamed as he tossed a Poké Ball into the air. A Rhyhorn emerged, its armor-like hide gleaming in the dim light of the cave.
[Pokédex Scan:
Name: Rhyhorn
Type: Ground/Rock
Ability: Rock Head
Level: 32]
Satoshi smirked. Only level 32? Looks like Koga's trying to keep his identity hidden by holding back his main team. This'll be manageable.
"Frogadier, [Water Pulse]!" Satoshi commanded.
The water-type Pokémon launched a pulsating orb of water directly at Rhyhorn, its movements swift and precise.
Koga clicked his tongue in annoyance. "A water Pokémon, huh? That's troublesome. Rhyhorn, [Drill Run]!"
Rhyhorn's horn began to spin as it charged forward, its massive body drilling through the air toward Frogadier. Despite its natural fear of water, Rhyhorn pushed forward, driven by Koga's command.
