Chapter 21 - Connections

The morning light streamed softly into the Ravenclaw dormitories, heralding the start of a peaceful Sunday. After the overwhelming revelations of the previous night, Louis De Versailles awoke with one clear objective: to share his discovery.

He dressed quickly, his thoughts still entangled with the images of ancient shelves, mysterious artefacts, and the echoing whispers of Rowena Serdaigle's secret chamber. With brisk steps, he descended the spiral staircase and made his way to the common room, where Cho and Evangeline were already seated by the fireplace, sipping tea and reviewing some light reading.

"Good morning," Louis greeted, his voice laced with urgency and excitement.

"You look like you've seen a ghost—or found one," Cho remarked with a smirk.

"Worse. Or better," Louis replied, taking a seat. "I found a secret chamber. One hidden by Rowena Serdaigle herself."

Evangeline blinked. "You did what?"

He recounted the events of the night before—the mana knot, the journal marked with the initials R.S., and the invocation that had revealed the chamber of knowledge. As he described the floating constellation ceiling, the whispering orb, and the ancient spellbooks, Cho and Evangeline exchanged wide-eyed glances.

"You've been here for a week, Louis," Cho said, half-laughing, half-disbelieving. "And you've already found a mythical secret room?"

"It's kind of incredible," Evangeline added, crossing her arms. "We were still figuring out where the bathrooms were at this point."

Louis gave a sheepish smile. "I… may be a bit obsessed with magical architecture. And secrets."

Before they could delve deeper, a voice gently interrupted. "May I join you?"

They turned to find Eleonore Montclair, the sixth-year Ravenclaw prefect, standing nearby. Tall, elegant, and always composed, she gave them a polite smile.

"Of course," Louis said immediately. He had always preferred the company of older minds, finding their conversations richer and more fulfilling. Fleur was an exception, and Cho and Evangeline had earned his trust, but the prospect of speaking with someone as experienced as Eleonore was a welcome one.

They made space, and Eleonore sat gracefully. "I couldn't help overhearing something about a secret chamber?"

Louis explained everything again, this time with greater detail, encouraged by Eleonore's thoughtful nods and occasional questions. When he finished, the conversation turned naturally toward other legends.

"There's a rumor about a mirror hidden deep in the dungeons," Eleonore offered. "One that shows not your reflection, but your greatest magical potential."

"Or the ghost of a Slytherin student who left clues to Salazar's own chamber hidden in riddle form," Evangeline said, lowering her voice theatrically.

The group spent the entire morning discussing theories, drawing connections from historical texts, and speculating about what the founders might have left behind. Though their search across the common room yielded nothing more than dust and loose floorboards, the thrill of the hunt kept them animated.

By midday, their stomachs collectively grumbled, and they made their way to the Great Hall. There, seated among the buzz of hundreds of students, they continued their discussion over roast chicken and spiced pumpkin juice.

After lunch, Louis excused himself politely. "I have a bit of writing to catch up on."

Back in his room, he shut the door behind him and sat on his bed, closing his eyes.

"Fleur" he called silently through their shared bond. The connection sparked instantly.

"Louis" her voice echoed warmly in his mind. "You feel… bright today."

He smiled. "I discovered something extraordinary last night. A secret chamber crafted by Rowena Serdaigle herself. It's filled with spellbooks, artefacts, ancient knowledge…"

He poured out the story in full detail—describing the mana knot, the journal, the invocation, and the awe-inspiring chamber. He spoke of the artefacts and their potential, and the rare spellbooks with forgotten incantations.

"You didn't do it all alone, I hope?" Fleur asked gently.

"No " Louis replied. "This morning I spoke with Cho and Evangeline. They were amazed, and curious. Then Eleonore Montclair joined us. She's older, very wise. It was actually pleasant discussing things with them."

Fleur was quiet for a moment.

"So… you've only made friends with girls then? "

Louis hesitated. "Well… yes. I suppose I have. Why?"

"You haven't forgotten our promise, have you?" Fleur's tone was light, but there was a trace of something more—a soft tinge of jealousy, perhaps, woven into her emotions.

"Of course not" he said quickly, his voice warm with sincerity. "You're… different, Fleur. None of them matter to me the way you do. I'll always keep that promise."

"Good ", she murmured, her presence softening.

They lingered in silence, connected more through feeling than words.

After they parted, Louis sat back in thought. Fleur's reaction had made something clear: his circle of interactions had indeed been… unbalanced.

Aside from fleeting exchanges with some Ravenclaw and Gryffindor boys during shared classes, he hadn't really reached out. He realized now how easy it had been to retreat into the comfort of familiarity and shared intellect.

That would change. For Fleur's sake—and for his own growth—he would make the effort to engage more broadly. To seek out different kinds of minds, different perspectives. He was here to learn, after all . Louis stood and glanced out the arched window. The sun was shinning bright in the clear sky

over the Forbidden Forest.

A new week would begin tomorrow, and with it, a renewed purpose.
