The demi-humans winced. The price given by the royal was something they couldn't even fathom. Its heavy amount crushed their dreams of retaining their current living situation. No doubt they would have to return to camping in the woods to survive—or worse, they would have to be cast out into the Parched Lands.
"Such are the difficulties of living in a capital city," said the Inn owner. "We'll have to put our land somewhere else, somewhere a lot more lenient with struggling folk."
The man tried to put on a brave face, but his creaking voice betrayed his true sadness.
"No need," Michael said. "I'll buy the lot myself."
With a simple nod from Michael, two Shadow Orcs emerged. The royal and his soldiers were caught fully unaware of where the pair of Orcs came from. It was as if they just appeared in existence in the blink of an eye, which was extremely weird because their huge stature should have alerted the well-trained soldiers from ten meters away.
