Michael didn't take their uneasy stares for rudeness. After all, they had just lived through a nightmare. Their entire village was laid to waste in a matter of seconds, and if they had been any less alert, they might have lost their lives as well.
"We have nothing to offer, but please, come inside," Thrain said, welcoming him to their shelter.
Michael entered the nearly wrecked house of the dwarves, only to find an entire village crammed into this very small space.
If it weren't for their small stature, there wouldn't have been enough room to be able to fit so many people in such a cramped place. After all, their number was close to a hundred, and with so many of them in just this shelter, it had become suffocating!
"As dwarves, we are indebted to repay twofold of what you have done for us," Thrain said solemnly. "However, we are currently unable to fulfill that."
Michael shook his head. "There's no need to worry about that for now. You have got bigger problems to care for."
