Cassy felt a bit embarrassed.
"I should've mentioned it earlier. I would have bought more ingredients."
After putting down what she was holding, Cassy turned to leave.
"You stay for a while, I'll go buy some more ingredients."
Cassy had only bought a few dishes that she and Alex liked to eat, all simple ingredients. Since she hadn't received any notice that Dave was coming, she hadn't prepared anything extra.
Now, seeing Dave, she thought it wouldn't be right to let him eat so simply with them. She decided to go out and buy more, maybe even something like six dishes and a soup.
To Cassy, Dave was still a guest.
Dave immediately got up and stopped Cassy.
"No need, Auntie, a simple meal is fine. I brought Emma here today just to visit you. Laurent's not free, and I have plenty of time right now, so I'm just here to show my filial piety for her."
He then added,
"Please don't treat me like an outsider. How about this, I'll cook lunch."
