"But you were asking me. You gave me a choice." She blurted, trying to free her hands from his grip but it was a futile attempt. It was like thick manacles had locked her wrists in place. The bastard was unnaturally strong.
Vex smiled and laughed mockingly. She heard that gruel-some voice again that felt like from the underworld.
Is he possessed by something?
"I gave you a choice, General. But I didn't like it. I was trying to be nice. But you rejected it. This isn't about what you want." His hand moved slowly, deliberately—trailing a line up her arm that was bought a promise and a threat. Not of violence, but of power. Of control. He didn't hurt her. He didn't even touch her beyond that one measured gesture. "It's about what I've already decided."
He only wanted her to see him. Not the man—the force.
And she did. She swallowed hard as she realized that she wasn't dealing with just anyone. He couldn't just be a mafia boss. He was beyond that.
