(Kira's POV)

With my heart thudding incessantly in my chest, I sped through the Paragon Gates, causing the security to jump out of the way as I swerved my way in. With my skilled control of the wheel, I didn't let up on the speed until I got to my house, and then with a jerk of the gear, I spun the car into my compound. Bringing it to a shuddering halt.
I turned off the engine at once and grabbed my purse from the passenger seat. I then hurried out of the car. With my keycard, I unlocked the door. The lighting inside had been significantly dimmed. There was no one in the living room. However, I found Lena's laptop there. It was open and still on.
"Babe…" I called as I tossed my purse onto the couch closest to me. "I'm home."
