Chapter 156 - Chapter 156

Over the next few days, Si Lu was completely taken care of by her mates in every possible way.

Just like that, half a month passed in the blink of an eye.

On this particular day, Si Lu was sitting at the entrance of the cave, basking in the sunlight. She squinted slightly, munching on some snacks, enjoying the peaceful moment.

[Warning! Warning! Time until labor: 30 minutes!]

Si Lu had been peacefully sunbathing when suddenly, a voice echoed in her mind.

She quickly snapped back to reality.

It was the system's voice—she was about to give birth!

Why so fast?!

She wasn't mentally prepared yet.

It was happening just like that!

Before she could think further, she felt her stomach tighten suddenly.

Then, pain followed.

Oh no!

It was really happening!

This system was too—!

The moment Si Lu felt the pain, Bai Di and Nansi both noticed immediately.

Their faces instantly turned pale with panic.

"Ah Di, Nansi, I'm going into labor! Quick, help me inside!" Si Lu's face turned white in an instant. She clutched her stomach, her forehead covered in sweat.

Who said childbirth didn't hurt? It definitely hurt!

But she also heard the system's countdown, which likely meant that once the timer hit zero, she would give birth.

Si Lu tried to calm herself down.

But this was her first time giving birth, so naturally, she couldn't remain completely calm—she was nervous and afraid.

Still, with the system around, she knew she would be fine.

However, her heart wouldn't stop racing!

"Lulu, relax, stay calm. I'm here; nothing will happen to you."

"Nansi, go get a basin of hot water and bring everyone back—tell them Lulu is about to give birth!" Bai Di instructed Nansi urgently.

He immediately scooped Si Lu up in his arms and rushed into the cave.

Being held by Bai Di made Si Lu feel a little more at ease. Her stomach didn't seem to hurt as much as before, but she still felt uncomfortable.

Bai Di gently placed Si Lu on a pile of soft grass covered with animal hides, gripping her hand tightly while glancing toward the entrance.

"Don't be scared; I'm here." Bai Di's eyes, deep as the starry sea, were filled with worry and distress.

He was anxious, too.

But he couldn't show it too much because he knew he needed to keep Si Lu calm.

If he panicked, then Si Lu would be even more terrified.

He was a shaman healer, after all.

He couldn't panic. He had to stay calm.

Bai Di silently reminded himself of this.

"I'm here! I'm here!" At that moment, Nansi rushed in with a basin of hot water.

"Don't worry! I already sent someone to call Cheng Mo and the others—they'll be here soon! Lulu, how do you feel?" Nansi set the basin down beside Si Lu, looking at her anxiously.

He wasn't a healer. He didn't know what to do.

All he could do was stand by helplessly.

"I'm fine, don't worry," Si Lu said weakly.

When she looked up, she noticed Nansi's eyes were slightly red.

His worried expression made her heart ache.

He looked like he was about to cry!

Si Lu couldn't help but find it both amusing and helplessly touching.

I'm the one giving birth here, and yet he's about to cry first!

"Really? Bai Di, what should I do? Tell me if there's anything I can help with!" Nansi turned to Bai Di anxiously.

"For now, there's nothing. Just stand guard outside and don't let anyone in. I'll be delivering Lulu's baby. Once Cheng Mo and the others arrive, let them in," Bai Di said seriously.

"Alright! I'll stand guard outside. Lulu, I'll be right outside the cave. Don't be afraid; we're all here for you!" Nansi reassured her gently.

Si Lu nodded and watched him leave.

"Lulu, lie down properly, lift your legs, and let me take off your skirt," Bai Di instructed.

As he spoke, he grabbed a clean animal hide and draped it over Si Lu's body, covering her legs as well.

Si Lu knew Bai Di was doing this to make her feel less embarrassed. Covering her with the hide would prevent him from seeing too much.

"I'll take it off myself. The pain isn't too bad right now," Si Lu said as she removed her skirt.

"Alright. Giving birth isn't something that happens instantly. The pain will come in waves. Also, Lulu, don't scream too loudly. Later, follow my rhythm when pushing, okay?"

"This way, it'll be less painful for you. Don't be scared—I'm here. Everything will be fine!" Bai Di reassured her.

Even though he was extremely nervous inside, he was doing his best to comfort Si Lu.

He had seen other females give birth before.

But this time, it was different—it was his mate.

Naturally, he couldn't stay calm.

What happened to others was their business. His only concern was making sure his mate was safe.

But now that it was happening to Si Lu, he was panicking inside.

Still, at least he knew what to do.

"I'm fine. I can handle it. As long as you're here, I feel safe. Don't be too anxious—I believe everything will be alright!" Si Lu said weakly.

Of course.

She wasn't blind.

She could see that Bai Di was nervous, too—so nervous that she had to comfort him!

"I…" Bai Di sighed deeply.

He never expected that at a time like this, his little female would be the one reassuring him instead.

She was too good to him.

"Hiss—"

Si Lu was just about to say something when another wave of pain hit her.

Her brows furrowed tightly. This time, the pain was noticeably worse than before.

Sure enough, it was getting more and more painful each time.

Bai Di picked up a clean animal hide, dipped it in water, and gently wiped the sweat off Si Lu's forehead. His heart ached for her.

"Lulu, do you want to drink some spiritual spring water? It might help restore your energy and ease the pain a little," Bai Di suggested.

It was an idea that had just come to him.

Si Lu gritted her teeth through the pain and nodded.

With a wave of her hand, a whole bucket of water appeared on the ground.

Bai Di quickly grabbed a nearby bowl, filled it with water, and helped Si Lu drink it.

Si Lu gulped it down in one go.

"How do you feel? Do you want another bowl?" Bai Di asked with concern.

"No need. I feel much better! I feel like I have more energy now, and I'm not as tired!" Si Lu smiled weakly.

She hadn't expected the spiritual spring water to have such an effect!

She really did feel a lot better.

Bai Di set the bowl aside, helped her lie back down, and held her hand tightly.

"Lulu! Lulu!"

"We're back!"

"Lulu, we're here!"

Before they even saw anyone, they heard Song Zhan's anxious voice echoing from outside.

Si Lu chuckled.

They got back pretty fast!

Si Lu and Bai Di both turned toward the entrance—just in time to see several figures rush inside like the wind, surrounding Si Lu in an instant.
