Chapter 88 - Chapter 87 - A Night Beneath the Stars

Quylla took a deep breath, smoothing out the soft fabric of her dress as she glanced at herself in the mirror. She wasn't one to fuss over appearances, but tonight was special. Friya had been acting a little mysterious all day, refusing to tell her anything about their evening plans.

With a knock at the door, Friya's voice rang through playfully. "Are you ready yet, or should I start making backup plans?"

Quylla rolled her eyes but couldn't help the smile that formed. Opening the door, she found Friya leaning against the frame, looking effortlessly elegant in a dark blue tunic embroidered with silver accents. Her golden hair shimmered under the dim hallway light, and the mischievous glint in her eyes sent Quylla's heart racing.

"You clean up well," Friya teased, offering her hand.

"And you're still annoyingly charming," Quylla retorted, taking it.

They stepped outside, and much to Quylla's surprise, a luxurious sky carriage was waiting for them. She raised an eyebrow, but Friya simply smirked.

"No questions. Just enjoy the night."

As the carriage soared over the city, Quylla gazed out at the twinkling lights below. The sight was breathtaking, but when she turned, she found Friya watching her instead.

"What?" Quylla asked, flustered.

"Nothing," Friya said softly. "You just look happy. I like that."

After a short flight, the carriage landed atop a secluded hill outside the city. Quylla stepped out to see an elegant picnic setup beneath a canopy of glowing mana lanterns. A blanket was laid out with an assortment of carefully arranged dishes, and to the side, a bottle of fine elven wine shimmered under the starlight.

"You did all this?" Quylla whispered, touched.

Friya shrugged, a small smile playing on her lips. "I figured we could use a quiet night. Just the two of us."

They sat together, sharing bites of food and soft laughter. The conversation flowed effortlessly, shifting between teasing banter and heartfelt confessions.

At one point, Friya reached out, tucking a loose strand of Quylla's hair behind her ear. "You work so hard, you know? I just wanted to remind you that you deserve moments like this too."

Quylla felt a warmth spread through her chest. Leaning forward, she rested her forehead against Friya's. "You're impossible."

"Irresistible, you mean."

With a soft laugh, Quylla finally closed the distance, pressing a gentle kiss against Friya's lips. It was slow, unhurried—filled with all the things words couldn't quite express.

As they pulled away, Friya grinned. "So… does this mean I planned a perfect date?"

Quylla smirked, rolling her eyes. "I suppose I'll allow you to be smug about it. Just for tonight."

They leaned against each other, watching the stars, knowing that in this moment, everything was just as it should be.
