Hu Li, Hei and Yang Yang walk around through out the afternoon. They try looking everywhere finally they return to the tavern. Meng Lan order food and they eat in their room. For the first time she see Hei she stare at him as they eat.
"Master, this is ..."
"His name is Hei Shi Ren. He is the one who help to get rid of the tiger."
"Master Hei! You are so brave!"
"This is nothing beside so long ago. I don't remember much of it."
Hu Li and Hei are not eating much except for Yang Yang and Meng Lan. They eat and talk the same time.
"Master i forgotten to tell you. My source inform me that someone have spotted spiritual dogs heading to the capital. Along with them is a boy."
"Oh it must be them. We need to go chase after them!"
"What did they do to you? Why are you..."
"Her son, she is chasing him back."
Hei drop the cup that he is holding. He look at Hu Li who is using the chopstick to play with the food in front of her.
"it's fine it's fine. I can accept that..."
Hei mumble to himself. He look at Hu Li. No wonder there is a change of character in her now.
That night, they bid farewell to Meng Lan and promise to visit her again. Hu Li, Hei and Yang Yang move out of he city via the only passway they know. After that, they leap to the trees. However Yang Yang is not able to leap like them thus Hei goes back to carry her. She leach on his back and watch where he jumps. She did not make noise and enjoy the scene. She realise that he is a nice little fox that looks mean and scary. They move through out the night. Soon they reach the capital city. Sneaking in they leap from rooftop to rooftop. The night petrol fails to notice the strange sight thus they can hide in an old house at the far corner where no one will visit. As the house is abandon thus there is plenty of grass for Yang Yang to chew on. While Hu LI and Hei doesn't need food watch outside if anything is wrong. For days after observation, Hu Li smell the air for the direction of her son. From the back alley they walk and into the busy streets. Hu Li relay to her sense and soon catch up with the spiritual male dogs. They are sitting in a tea house near an open street. They are surprise to see Hu Li and fear Hei when they see those manic eyes. They all waited for the two spiritual girls and Bai Lu. Finally they appear running with laughter. Bai Lu is holding a kite. The moment he see his mother, he stop laughing and stand still with the kite in his hands. He press his lips tight and prepare himself. Hu Li just stare at him in the open street. The sun is blazing hot Bai Lu feels that his mother is now punishing him without a word. Huan Xi is standing behind him she smile and walk to Hu Li.
"Master... please don't be angry."
Dong Mei hide behind her brothers to avoid Hu LI and Hei's furry stares. Yang Yang continue to chew her grass in her mouth and watch what is going on. Finally After a long silence, Hu Li pat the seat next to her. Bai Lu understand and walk to sit next to her. Hu Li wipe his forehead wth her sleeves.
"Mother, i am sorry."
"When we go back, you have to learn how to write."
"Can't we stay here? It's fun and there is more people here."
"No we can't stay. Going back will be safer for you."
"But it's boring there..."
"Boring but safe. Your grand master will miss you. Don't you want to see his magic?"
"Yes but can he come here instead? He can go anywhere."
Hei watch this little boy talk to Hu Li. He doesn't look like Hu Li but Hei sense that this child doesn't have any power of his own. So what does he have? Bai Lu while talking to his mother, he look at Hei. His eyes turn completely black upon looking at him and he laugh michevously to turn it back to the usual with white in it. Hu Li notice what her son did. She smack him on his arm.
"Don't be rude! Greet him! His name is Hei Shi Ren. Call him uncle Hei."
Bai Lu stand up and bow. Hei smirk and stare at the little boy.
"Who's the father? Can't be Di Jun? So who is the father?"
"My father is..."
"There is no need to know who is the father. As long as you know i am his mother is enough."
Hu Li introduce the spiritual dogs and Huan Xi to Hei. The dogs are afraid of him but Huan Xi is not. She smile at him sweetly and address him as 'Hei ge ge'. Hei is delighted to hear her addressing him as a ge ge. Seeing how happy Hei is, Dong Mei address him as 'Hei ge ge' as well to get into his good books. Hei smile and nod his head. However when the male spiritual dogs call him 'Hei ge ge.' they got death stares from him. Their legs tremble so much they squad down.
"You two call me Master Hei."
They nod their head immediately without looking at him.
"We need to go home."
"Mother, please. Just a few more days. They say the lantern festival starts tomorrow. Please... i want to see it. They say lanterns are on the sky, on the river and on the ground too."
Hu Li is in a hurry to go home because she fear that she will run into Sheng Qin here in this capital. However her son begged and begged. This is the first time he actually ask for something. For the time of his birth till now he never ask for anything. She sigh and agree.
"However, you have to listen to me. You are not allow to run anywhere without me."
"I promise!"
