Her forehead rested against Yun Qingyue's shoulder, and she held her like she was afraid she'd disappear if she let go.
Yun Qingyue was stunned, her heart pounding.
"Wuqi..." she whispered, barely able to speak.
Lu Wuqi shook her head slightly.
"I wasn't ignoring you. I was scared. Scared because… I didn't know what I meant to you. And seeing you with someone else—I know I have no right to feel that way. But it made me feel like I didn't belong next to you. Like I was just someone passing by."
She gathered Qingyue into her arms, pulling her close. Yun Qingyue stiffened, then melted against her, her tears soaking through Lu Wuqi's shirt.
"I'm sorry," Lu Wuqi murmured into her hair. "I'm an idiot. A jealous, scared idiot."
Yun Qingyue hiccuped a laugh against her collarbone. "Jealous?"
