After 5 minutes of thinking, Damien finally snapped out of his episode and went back to his normal self, with his back straight and eyes blazing with determination and cold indifference towards anyone other than his family and those he was familiar with. They continued on their journey and they are improvement was honestly shocking. Almost jaw dropping. There was a time when there was a horde of about 15 zombies ahead of them but, in the blink of an eye Damian cross the 5 meter distance between them and, with a few necks sliced and some heads chopped, 50 seconds later he was done with them. All that was left was his lone figure and him using his long sleeve to wipe his blade.
Oscar's perception had improved and he could headshot anything within a 40m radius with a fast sharp straight arrow that only some speed based beasts could barely dodge. He even acquired a skill named archery and it was already in level three.
Alice could make quick work of a group of zombies with only her fists and her trusty rolling pin. Using the skills of a Special Forces operator to his fullest extent and striking their weak points with immense perception and force. She even broke a few limbs. She had the strength of two burly men contained in her small body. It was baffling. And, whenever she encountered a beast, all that was left was to roll the pin. It worked most of the time but, other times she was simply...unlucky. Monika, their mother, helped in any way she could, getting the hang of hacking the monsters without getting sick. But, when they were attacked by an unsuspecting 1.6 m tall sunflower with sharp monstrous teeth and prunes, instead of it's usual calm demeanor. It took the combined the effort of Damien and Oscar to kill it and give the 'Skill Scroll' it produced to Monika. It was a marvelous boosting skill. It had different boosts. Healing, strength, speed and the rest were locked and greyed out. Also, she could only boost once after every minute time and she couldn't boost the same person again until 5minutes had passed. It was the first active skill they had seen and it seemed all active skills had time limits and some requirements.
Although none of them got hurt, due to them being overly cautious after Alice persuaded Oscar to save a man running from a zombie but due to a little scratch from the zombies sharp black nails, he quickly turned attacked them.
Due to that, they were overly cautious and even when they heard a cry for help that was produced by someone on the road or in front of their houses with pitying gazes and sadness, they ignored those cries and continued walking. Damien's gaze was steady as he worked past the people being torn apart by monsters and zombies. Only at two times when he was attacked. Whether young or old, their cries for help where all ignored. After all, these peasants who couldn't even overcome their fear and fight back were not worthy of his attention.
If they heard his thoughts, they would have been enraged saying things like, "I am the CEO of blah blah blah" or 'My brother is blah blah blah". But in times like these none of that mattered, but power. Only power. Even before the apocalypse, he wouldn't have cared and he had his reasons why.
'We need to get stronger faster.' His gaze sharpened because it wasn't only them who were getting stronger. Even the monsters and zombies they were fighting against were getting stronger too and, most probably other humans. But, that wasn't always a good thing.
But he snapped out of his reverie as Alice screamed in terror. "Damien look!!" It could only be described as ugly and grotesque. It was a fat 3 m zombie with boils all over its face and body. Large disgusting purple and transparent boils. Even on its eyelids. It's legs and neck could barely be seen as it's fat covered it all. As to how it was walking, that was a wonder to Damien. By the looks of it, it had just come out of the mansion on the left side of the road with a large hole. Through which he smashed it's way out and, was commanding a group of at least 20 zombies to attack. All of which were at level two.
As Damien looked closely, he remembered this fatso. He was an otaku living off his parents wealth and all he did was eat and watch anime. The only reason Damien knew him was because he used to see him outside was when he was 'working out'. That is, when he was walking his equally fat dog for less than a block before he got tired and returned.
Now he guessed that due to the fat, the fatso could barely run and was bitten down fiercely by zombies.
'Such is life.' Damien thought, amused with a slight smile on his lips. "Damien, get your head in the game!!!" Oscar shouted, already firing arrows at the zombies and the fatso. The arrows were coming out faster than those coming out of a crossbow. And the reason was obviously due to his increased strength and dexterity in positioning his fingers. Oscar had no idea why his son was smiling but, he hoped it wasn't because of the disgustingly ugly fat so infront of them. He still wanted a sane child okay ^_^.
Snapping out of it, Damien rushed towards it with an amazing speed twice as fast as Usain Bolt. Covering the distance in seconds and, clearing the zombies in his way. Then, jumping on the shoulder of a zombie in a tracksuit in leaves to high level with the factor, leaped to eye level with the fatso. But, before it could react and grab him with his surprisingly fast hands, he flipped in the air and step on it's head jumps lightly into the sky and stabbing his axe into the fatso's back. Using the opportunity to cause fatal damage and land safely. He made a large cut on its back as he speedily descended and, being careful not to let the dark green blood touch him, he dodged quickly. Maneuvering to the side of it, he made another large cut on it with his knife through his stomach, allowing some rotten intestines and blood to gush out. This was followed by an unholy rail that didn't seem possible for human lungs to achieve. It was full of pain and anger. It seemed that while the lower level zombies could not feel pain, it could.
