"Argh!" Kevin screamed in pain. His right hand—raised to punch his wife—now had a gaping hole in the middle. Blood poured out, and the sheer agony nearly made him pass out.
Meanwhile, Milan, shocked by what had just happened, looked past Kevin and saw someone standing in the doorway with a handgun.
"Kael?" she whispered, eyes widening in disbelief. They were finally here. But instead of feeling relieved, her heart skipped a beat in fear. She saw her father's furious face as he entered the room, and without thinking, she rushed toward him. "Father!"
