Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

As her eyes fluttered open, Gu Shengsheng was greeted by a warm, golden light that spilled across her face. The morning sun, now a burning orange-yellow hue, streamed through the window, casting a gentle glow over the room. Its rays danced across her skin, illuminating the delicate features of her face and infusing her with a sense of tranquility.

The sunlight's warmth seeped into her pores, chasing away the remnants of sleep and leaving her feeling refreshed and revitalized. As she blinked away the haze of slumber, the light's intensity grew, bathing her in its radiance and filling her with a sense of hope and new beginnings.

Her eyes searched for a particular figure but she couldn't find him.

A faint pang of disappointment settled in her chest, followed by a whisper of concern. Where was he? She tried to recall the events of the previous night, but her memories were hazy. She remembered drinking the rose tea, feeling its soothing effects, and... and something else. A gentle touch, a soft voice, a sense of safety.

As she sat up, her gaze swept the room, taking in the familiar surroundings. The bed, the dresser, the window... everything was in its place, yet something felt off. The air seemed to vibrate with an almost imperceptible tension, like the quiet before a storm.

Gu Shengsheng's heart beat slightly faster as she threw off the covers and swung her legs over the side of the bed. Her feet dangled in the air, hesitating for a moment before touching the cool floor. With a sense of trepidation, she stood up, her eyes scanning the room once more.

"Hello?" she called out softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "Is anyone there?".Just as Gu Shengsheng was starting to feel a sense of unease, she heard the sound of muted voices coming from downstairs. She walked to the door and listened intently, trying to make out what was being said.

As she descended the stairs, the voices grew louder, and she recognized Mo Qingcheng's deep, smooth tone. He was talking with his family, their conversation punctuated by occasional laughter and the clinking of dishes.

Gu Shengsheng's heart skipped a beat as she reached the bottom of the stairs. She hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to announce her presence or simply observe from afar.

Mo Qingcheng was seated at the head of the table, his back to her. His family was gathered around him, their faces animated as they chatted. Gu Shengsheng's eyes lingered on Mo Qingcheng's broad shoulders, feeling a sense of comfort and security wash over her.

She took a deep breath and stepped forward, her footsteps quiet on the marble floor. Mo Qingcheng was still oblivious to her presence, too caught up in the conversation with his family. Gu Shengsheng's eyes never left his face, her heart pounding softly in her chest.
