Chapter 279 - Chapter 279: Could There Be Things in the Shinobi World They Don’t Know?

With a sense of unease, Shuto arrived at the underground cell where the Seven-Tails was being held.

The current jinchūriki of the Seven-Tails was a middle-aged man named Yamamoto Shou. He had been sealed within this dungeon ever since he was chosen as the host in his teenage years.

When Shuto stepped in front of him, Yamamoto Shou merely glanced up before lowering his head again, muttering to himself.

Years of imprisonment had shattered his mind, reducing him to a deranged shell of a man with no clear consciousness.

This was precisely why the shinobi of Takigakure dared not release him.

For a jinchūriki in this state, the moment the Seven-Tails willed it, it could take full control of Yamamoto Shou's body and unleash its full power.

"Cough… cough..."

"Yamamoto Shou, I'm letting you out now. Try to keep the Seven-Tails in check."

Shuto spoke cautiously, but Yamamoto Shou remained completely unresponsive. Left with no choice, Shuto gritted his teeth and unsealed the dungeon.

The next second, Yamamoto Shou abruptly lifted his head, a sinister grin spreading across his face.

His eyes turned blood-red, and an overwhelming, terrifying chakra surged from his body.

A cloak of crimson chakra wrapped around him as multiple tail-like wings took shape behind him.

The sheer pressure alone paralyzed Shuto, robbing him of control over his own body.

The thick, murderous intent radiating from Yamamoto Shou condensed into a violent wind that howled through the dungeon.

"Damn it, the Seven-Tails is going berserk!"

Despair filled Shuto's face.

As expected…

No matter how powerful a human was, they could never truly intimidate a tailed beast.

But just then, another presence entered the room.

Yamamoto Shou, who had been poised to attack, suddenly froze in place.

That presence...

Seeing the killing intent in Yamamoto Shou's eyes vanish, Shuto immediately seized the opportunity. "Seven-Tails, there's someone who wants to see you."

He deliberately avoided addressing Yamamoto Shou by name, knowing full well that the man had already lost control to the beast within him.

Sure enough, after a brief silence, Yamamoto Shou took a slow step forward.

"Lead the way."

"Uh… yes!"

Shuto hadn't expected the Seven-Tails to actually respond. It took him several seconds to snap out of his daze before quickly turning to guide the way.

He never imagined the Seven-Tails would actually obey so readily.

Just how powerful was that man?!

Inside a wooden cabin.

Uchiha Mirai leisurely sipped his tea, watching as Shuto led the Seven-Tails' jinchūriki inside.

"Rinnegan... who are you?"

The Seven-Tails asked in a low voice as it stared at Uchiha Mirai.

Mirai smiled and gestured to the seat beside him. "Seven-Tails, have a seat. I will tell you everything."

The beast hesitated, but seeing Mirai's composed expression, it silently walked over and sat down.

A moment later, Mirai extended his fist toward it.

The Seven-Tails blinked in surprise.

It had been a long time since it had encountered this method of communication—one unique to tailed beasts.

After a moment's thought, it extended its own fist and lightly bumped it against Mirai's.

The instant their fists met, a flood of memories surged into the Seven-Tails' mind.

It instantly understood everything.

"You intend to revive the Ten-Tails and create an era where humans and tailed beasts can coexist?"

"What makes you think you can achieve that?"

Hearing this, Mirai merely chuckled and replied in a calm, confident voice: "Because I am strong enough. My will is the will of this world."

As he spoke, a presence unique to the Sage of Six Paths emanated from him.

The Seven-Tails fell silent for a moment before finally nodding.

"Very well, then. I'll be watching."

After all, with Mirai's overwhelming power, resisting him was meaningless.

The fact that he was willing to speak rather than simply forcing it into submission was already a rare courtesy.

And so, with the Seven-Tails' cooperation, Mirai swiftly sealed it within himself.

...

Inside Uchiha Mirai's Mental Space.

Matatabi, Isobu, Kokuō, Gyūki, and Kurama all greeted the newly arrived Seven-Tails with grins. "Yo~"

"Chōmei, long time no see."

Chōmei sighed, feeling a sense of nostalgia. "It really has been nearly a hundred years, hasn't it?"

"Being sealed inside humans for so long, it feels like millennia have passed."

At this, Gyūki let out a hearty laugh. "That's all in the past. Those days are never coming back."

Chōmei couldn't help but ask, "But tell me—how does Mirai, a human who has lived such a short time, know so much about the hidden truths of the tailed beasts?"

"Isobu, did you tell him?"

Hearing Chōmei's question, the other tailed beasts all turned their eyes to the Three-Tails.

After all, Isobu had been with Mirai the longest. It wouldn't be surprising if he had shared these secrets.

Isobu looked utterly innocent. "I never told him anything! Do you think I'm stupid? When he first told me about the Ten-Tails, I was just as shocked as you all!"

"Hmph!" Matatabi snorted. "You don't have to pretend. We wouldn't be mad even if you did."

Gyūki joined in, nodding. "Exactly, our lives are good now. None of us would hold it against you."

Kokuō added, "Isobu, just admit it. Otherwise, how else could Mirai know about the Ten-Tails?"

Kurama, who had been lounging silently, twitched his ears but remained quiet.

Isobu opened his mouth, about to protest again, when Mirai's voice cut through the air.

"Not only do I know about the Ten-Tails, I also know about the Ōtsutsuki Clan."

"The Ōtsutsuki Clan?!"

All the tailed beasts spoke in unison.

What did that mean?

As usual, Matatabi moved closer, pressing itself against Mirai so he could stroke its fur.

Kokuō knelt behind him, offering its back as a cushion.

The rest of the tailed beasts sat obediently before him, their eyes filled with curiosity.

"Mirai, what do you mean by the Ōtsutsuki Clan?"

Mirai chuckled. "You might not know this, but the Ōtsutsuki Clan hails from the depths of the cosmos. They wield the power to create Divine Trees and the Ten-Tails. The true name of the Sage of Six Paths is Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo."

The tailed beasts' eyes widened in shock.

Could there really be things in this world that even they didn't know?!
