Thanos turned slowly, his piercing gaze locking onto Thor—the King of Asgard who had become the bane of his existence.
Thor stood tall, the Phoenix Stormbreaker blazing in his hand. In the other, he held Surtur's flaming crown. With a single motion, he cast the crown to the ground.
Kangdang...
The crown shattered into countless fragments, the fire extinguished forever.
"This time," Thor said coldly, "you won't be resurrecting."
The sky darkened ominously as reinforcements began to arrive. Spaceships of varying designs appeared in the atmosphere, their engines roaring as they joined the fray.
Among them, a figure emerged wearing a two-horned devilish helmet.
"Your savior is here!" Loki shouted dramatically, reveling in the spotlight.
Thor didn't react, and neither did Thanos. The Mad Titan ignored Loki entirely, his focus unbroken.
Thanos took a deep breath. "Dormammu, Surtur... they're both gone, aren't they?"
"What do you think?" Thor sneered. "I underestimated you, Thanos. The so-called Planet Destroyer, reduced to scheming and pulling strings from the shadows."
Thanos' lips curled into an unreadable smile. "And I underestimated you. No... I underestimated this world. I treated you as though you were Odin. That was my mistake."
Thor's grip tightened on his axe. "Then there's nothing left to say."
Thanos' expression darkened. "Perhaps I haven't lost yet. But if you want my head, Thor, it will cost you dearly."
With a sharp motion, he raised his hand. "All forces—at any cost—cause the greatest destruction possible!"
The Dark Legion surged forward like a wave, their frenzied charge wreaking havoc on all who stood in their path.
Without the leadership of superpowered individuals, the Avengers Alliance found themselves overwhelmed. Casualties mounted as the relentless tide of Thanos' forces bore down on them.
It was clear that Thanos, seeing his defeat imminent, intended to go out in a blaze of destruction, ensuring his enemies suffered even in victory.
But Thor intervened.
"You have no chance," Thor declared, his voice resonating across the battlefield.
He raised the Phoenix Stormbreaker high, the combined Odinforce and the Phoenix Force radiating from his form. Flames and thunder erupted, sweeping through the battlefield like a divine storm.
Boom! Boom!
Explosions lit the sky as Chitauri soldiers were reduced to ashes. Their bodies disintegrated like firecrackers, scattering into the wind.
In the air, the Chitauri Force and Leviathan beasts were caught in the storm of lightning and flames. Screams were cut short as they were incinerated, their massive forms falling lifeless to the ground.
The devastation lasted less than a minute. When the storm cleared, the battlefield was eerily silent.
The once-mighty Dark Legion was gone. Not a single soldier remained.
Only Thanos and the stunned members of the Black Order stood amidst the carnage, their faces pale with shock.
Thanos hadn't moved. He hadn't been given the chance to.
Thor had obliterated the armies without stepping forward, his sheer energy alone achieving what seemed impossible.
"Now it's your turn," Thor said, his voice cold and final.
The Phoenix Force surged into the Tomahawk, condensing into a radiant beam of energy. With a mighty swing, Thor released the energy, a colossal wave of power cleaving through the sky.
The beam raced toward Thanos with unstoppable force.
"No!" Thanos thought, his heart pounding as he prepared to dodge.
But no matter how he moved, the beam seemed to adjust its trajectory, homing in on him with deadly precision.
At the last moment, the Black Order stepped in. Ebony Maw grabbed Obsedian Cull, using him as a shield against the incoming strike.
Boom!
The impact was cataclysmic.
With one swing, Thor obliterated the remnants of the Black Order, their once-feared presence reduced to nothingness.
The battlefield was silent once more. The sheer magnitude of Thor's power left even the Avengers in stunned awe.
Thor stood as the undisputed strongest in the universe, his might surpassing even Odin.
Thanos' face was grim. He could feel it—there was no hope of victory. The battle had shifted entirely in Thor's favor, and there was no path to reclaiming dominance.
But surrender was not an option.
He was Thanos—the Mad Titan, the Destroyer of Worlds. He would fight to the end, no matter the odds.
"If you want to kill me, come and try!" Thanos roared, his laughter ringing out as he charged at Thor, his fists raised high.
Thor met him head-on, his battle axe raised. The two clashed in a violent flurry of power, but Thor's voice rang out as their weapons crossed:
"The reason I lost in another world..."
Thanos froze, his mind racing.
"...must be because I didn't aim for the head."
Before Thanos could react, pain shot through his neck.
In his fading consciousness, he heard Thor's final words:
"This time, I aimed for it."
Boom.
Thanos' headless body collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
