Chapter 266 - Chapter 265: The Place of First Meeting

The night grew deeper.

Ei had already gone to bed, and Yu Xie stood alone on the balcony, gazing at the distant night. It seemed like he was looking very intently, yet his gaze didn't seem to focus on anything in particular.

After an unknown amount of time, Yu Xie smiled softly and turned to enter the room.

The next day.

After breakfast, Yu Xie and Ei went out together.

The streets during the day were not as lively as they were at night, with pedestrians either in a hurry or leisurely strolling.

Yu Xie appeared very relaxed. He didn't take Ei directly to find Rosalyne but instead wandered around Mondstadt City.

First, they visited the West Wind Cathedral, then the Anemo Archon Statue Square, followed by the maze-like streets of Mondstadt City, and finally, the Cider Lake outside the city.

It wasn't until after noon that Ei began to feel puzzled.

Clearly, Yu Xie had said he came to Mondstadt to find Rosalyne, but why did he seem so unhurried now?

The breeze from the Cider Lake blew toward them as Yu Xie and Ei walked side by side along the lakeside.

The clear water of the lake reflected the light, and the surface sparkled with countless glimmers.

Cider Lake was a natural freshwater lake surrounding Mondstadt City. The water was clear, and many of Mondstadt's famous wines were brewed using the water from the lake.

The Mondstadt people took great care in protecting Cider Lake, as evidenced by the excellent quality of the water even now.

Walking along such a beautiful lakeside, their mood naturally relaxed.

"Yu Xie, aren't we going to try and find Rosalyne?" Ei couldn't help but ask.

Yu Xie smiled and replied, "We don't have any leads on Rosalyne's whereabouts. Searching aimlessly for her would be less effective than letting her come to us."

"Let her come to us?"

"Yes, the unnamed hero that the locals have been talking about is most likely Rosalyne. She's able to appear right when someone needs help, and it can't always be a coincidence."

"So you mean... she's able to receive information about people who need help, and then rush to the scene?"

"She must have someone helping her gather information. If that's the case, she might already know about our arrival in the city."

"Then why hasn't she..."

"If things are as I think, then when she wants to meet me, she'll naturally show up." Yu Xie smiled lightly. "So until then, we don't need to rush."

As his words fell, Yu Xie suddenly stopped in his tracks, looking ahead with a slightly surprised expression.

"What's wrong?" Ei asked, feeling a bit puzzled. Following Yu Xie's gaze, she saw a beautiful girl with light blue short hair standing by the lake, staring absentmindedly at the surface of the Cider lake.

Ei seemed to understand something and smiled in relief.

"Yu Xie, I just remembered that I wanted to buy something back on that street. I'll go back and get it."

"Huh? I'll go with you," Yu Xie said.

"No need, I can go alone." Ei gave him a smile and turned to leave.

Yu Xie stood in place, taking a slow breath and exhaling. He could naturally sense Ei's intention.

After a slight hesitation, Yu Xie stepped forward.

A gentle breeze blew across the lake, rustling the girl's light blue short hair and the single-sided cloak behind her.

Her beautiful eyes seemed to hide many thoughts.

"Hello," Yu Xie greeted her.

Yu Xie's voice startled Eula. She snapped back to her senses and slowly turned to look at him, her eyes trembling uncontrollably.

What Sara said... was it really true?

Has Yu Xie come back?

Eula stared at him in disbelief, her gaze carefully scanning him, afraid of missing any detail.

Everything was just as it used to be—the same eyes, the same height, the same voice, the same presence.

Eula was certain that the person in front of her was Yu Xie. That unique presence couldn't be mistaken—he had truly returned.

But Eula still used all her strength to remain calm, afraid that she might be wrong.

"Hello, may I ask who you are...?"

"My name is Yu Xie, I'm from Liyue. And you?"

Eula's heart suddenly skipped a beat. "Eula Lawrence..."

"Nice to meet you, Miss Eula."

"Miss Eula...?"

Eula looked at Yu Xie, her heart feeling as if something was blocking it.

He had truly returned, but everything seemed the same, yet somehow different.

"Do you... remember this place?" Eula asked slowly.

"This place? Are you referring to the Cider Lake?"

"Yes, Cider Lake. This is where we first met." Eula said.

"..." Yu Xie suddenly fell silent.

What Eula mentioned was clearly not their first meeting today.

So, had he really been to Mondstadt before? And had he known Eula?

"I... don't remember the past. We knew each other before, right?"

Eula's pupils trembled. After a moment of hesitation, she nodded. "Yes, and it wasn't just a simple acquaintance. Yu Xie, you..."

She stopped herself, many words hanging on the tip of her tongue, but ultimately turning into silence.

"I'm sorry, I might not be able to remember the past. I must have traveled to many places and met many people, but now, all of that is gone from my memory," Yu Xie said helplessly.

Could such a strange thing really happen? Eula looked at Yu Xie, and she could tell that he wasn't lying. She could also see the helplessness in his eyes.

"So that's how it is. I can't believe something like this happened," Eula said, smiling at Yu Xie. "But anyway, welcome back, Yu Xie."

It was clear that there was a lot of sadness in Eula's smile, a sense of loss as if hope had been gained only to be lost again. Yet, there was also joy.

After all, even if Yu Xie didn't remember the past, he had truly come back.

Everything could start over. It wasn't too late.

"From now on, just call me Eula, no need to add 'miss' or anything like that," Eula turned away from Yu Xie's gaze, wiping away the tears at the corner of her eyes. "Also, I'm now a Cavalry Knight of the Knights of Favonius and the captain of a Reconnaissance squad. I haven't... let you down, have I?"

Yu Xie hesitated for a moment, then smiled and nodded. "Of course not, you've worked hard, Eula."

In an instant, Eula's eyes filled with tears again. She wanted to rush forward and hug Yu Xie, but she didn't do so.

She held back her tears, forced a smile, and turned to leave. "I still need to lead the Reconnaissance Company on a mission today. You've been gone for so many years, but this grudge... I'll remember it! I'll come for my revenge another day."

Yu Xie paused for a moment, then smiled in response, "In that case, I'll be waiting for your revenge."

From a distant corner, Ei quietly watched this scene, a smile of both relief and a touch of helplessness on her face. She let out a soft sigh.
