Alaric made three deals before he was allowed to leave the Zone.
One of those wishes was the fact he needed to come back every so often to check up on her.
Perhaps it was a way to make sure he wasn't planning anything, since she didn't fully trust him. In any case, Alaric had been doing it for the past few weeks.
