ADRIANA'S POV
I couldn't believe it.
There was a tense silence for a split second. We all just stared in shock at the doctor, his words hanging heavy in the air like a weight pressing down on us.
Michael was the first to speak, his eyes shut for a split second as though to ground himself before he spoke up.
"She's pregnant?" His voice was careful, as if saying it out loud would make it more real.
I didn't even want to think about it being real but I knew the doctor wasn't bluffing and I didn't know what to think or feel. I was going to be a mother.
I was going to be a fucking mother.
The thought was as scary as it was exhilarating.
The doctor nodded. "Yes, she is. I've confirmed it."
I let out a small gasp, my hands curling around my stomach, as though aching to feel something, anything. My mind was spinning, unable to fully grasp the weight of what he had just said. Pregnant. I was pregnant with Vincenzo's child.
