Chapter 259: Rivals Converge
As the day of the Hundred Dynasty War approached, the crowds in Myriad City had become nearly overwhelming. With an influx of powerful figures from all across the Ancient Battlefield, the city's already intense atmosphere had grown even more electric.
Oddly, following the incident the previous night, the Fengyun Dynasty seemed to have gone quiet, refraining from any overt moves against Lin Langtian or his group. However, those with sharper senses and good information knew better. They understood that such an unresolved grudge wouldn't simply fade. The Fengyun Dynasty was likely lying low, waiting until they were fully prepared to confront Lin Langtian. And when they were ready, a fierce battle would undoubtedly ensue.
The next two days passed in a tense, uneasy calm, like the stillness before a storm, until finally, the long-awaited Myriad Auction began.
The auction was held in the city's northern sector, at a colossal arena. By the time Lin Langtian and his group arrived, the area was already filled with a sea of people, their combined voices roaring up to the skies. As Lin Langtian's group entered, they could feel countless curious and scrutinizing gazes from all around. In only a few days, Lin Langtian's arrival and actions had made him and his followers household names across Myriad City.
"Well, well, it seems even Lin Langtian couldn't resist the allure of a heaven-grade treasure," a voice called out in good humor. Lin Langtian turned to see Chang Ling, a figure he'd met briefly before, approaching with a group of companions.
"So, it's Brother Chang," Lin Langtian responded with a polite nod.
"Lin Langtian, you've definitely made a name for yourself. Even your followers are powerful beyond belief," Chang Ling remarked, glancing at Lin Langtian's subordinate, Jinwu, with genuine admiration. He remembered being concerned for Lin Langtian when he heard about Luo Tong facing off against Jinwu, but unexpectedly, Luo Tong—once the top Earth Rank fighter in Myriad City—had suffered a sound defeat. For someone at the peak of the Third Nirvana Stage to beat someone in the Fourth Nirvana Stage, it was nothing short of spectacular.
The others with Chang Ling watched Lin Langtian and Jinwu with a mixture of awe and respect. A warrior ranked on the Heaven List and another at the top of the Earth List—figures like these, they thought, didn't usually emerge from a low-ranking dynasty.
"Lin Langtian, I've heard that the Fengyun Dynasty recently allied with the Great Qian Dynasty and the Great Zhao Dynasty. You'll want to keep an eye out," Chang Ling said, his voice lowered as he glanced around.
Lin Langtian raised an eyebrow and then nodded. "Thanks for the warning. I'll be careful."
Chang Ling seemed relieved to see that Lin Langtian wasn't taking the situation lightly, though he couldn't help but wish Lin Langtian would just leave Myriad City for his own safety. Despite Lin Langtian's strength and the impressive capabilities of his subordinate, Jinwu, taking on three super dynasties seemed unwise—especially since the Great Zhao Dynasty was one of the ten most powerful dynasties.
But seeing that Lin Langtian had already made up his mind, Chang Ling decided to let the matter drop rather than press the issue.
After a brief conversation, Chang Ling left to take his seat near the front of the arena. As he departed, he found himself mulling over Lin Langtian's composure. He wasn't someone who let arrogance cloud his judgment, so why was he staying in Myriad City when three powerful dynasties were targeting him? Did he have a plan for facing them?
"Let's go find our seats," Lin Langtian said, leading Jinwu and the others to a spot in the middle of the arena.
No sooner had they taken their seats than a commotion erupted. In the sky above, three groups of figures arrived with a flurry of wind, descending one after another until nearly a hundred people stood at the front of the arena.
"That's the Solitary Moon Dynasty, one of the super dynasties," Su Kui whispered, pointing at a graceful woman clad in white—Mu Hanyue, whom Lin Langtian had briefly encountered. Standing beside her was a man in moon-white robes, her senior brother Mu Lin. The aura Mu Lin projected was far stronger than that of Luo Tong.
"Over there, that's Utuo from the Forest Dynasty, another powerhouse with a Heaven Rank Nirvana Seal," Su Kui continued, gesturing to a man in green robes with jade-green hair. His aura was similarly potent.
"And the third group is from the Blazing Fire Dynasty. That's Mo Fen," Su Kui added, indicating a brawny man with flame tattoos across his bare upper body. He emanated an intense, scorching energy, drying the air around him.
Lin Langtian nodded indifferently. Though each of these dynasties was powerful, he considered them to be average among the super dynasties.
"Haha, it looks like everyone has gathered here early," a voice suddenly boomed, carried by a powerful surge of energy that swept through the arena. Lin Langtian looked toward the voice and saw two figures materializing in a gust of wind. The two men met Lin Langtian's gaze with cold, challenging stares, their eyes glittering with hostility.
The arena fell eerily quiet as those present turned to observe. Even Mu Lin and the leaders of the three super dynasties glanced over, intrigued by the unfolding scene.
"Is the Fengyun Dynasty only good at making empty threats?" Lin Langtian asked dismissively, his voice dripping with disdain. Having already reached an irreparable rift with them, he felt no need to hold back.
At his words, the man with a hideous scar running across his face grew visibly furious, glaring at Lin Langtian. His voice rang out like a curse over the entire arena: "Lin Langtian? Good! Today, Myriad City will be your final resting place!"
