Time passed.
Around 4 PM in the afternoon, Kiyoshi stretched his limbs, loosening his muscles.
He was busy recording experimental data.
"Hmm? This chakra signature."
Kiyoshi raised an eyebrow. "It's Anko…. and Kakashi?"
Surprised, he looked toward the direction of Konoha's Seventh Training Ground.
He sensed a fierce battle underway, and the noise from the clash was far from subtle.
The intense chakra signatures he felt belonged unmistakably to Anko and Kakashi.
With his fingers forming a sign in front of him, he focused.
In a matter of seconds, from the ground above the Root base—
"Whoosh..." A tall, seemingly ordinary tree suddenly manifested a pair of eyes, glinting with red chakra.
They pierced through obstacles, fixating on the Seventh Training Ground.
Having remodeled the Root base, Kiyoshi had implemented countless barrier techniques and large-scale seals, isolating it from detection, perception, or intrusion.
It was even able to detect spatial fluctuations.
Anyone attempting to use time-space ninjutsu to infiltrate would immediately trigger the Root base's barrier squad's alarms.
Only Kiyoshi himself, having registered his chakra signature with the barrier squad, could freely use the Flying Thunder God Technique without causing unnecessary chaos.
But even he couldn't simply rely on the Sharingan or Byakugan to see the outside world from within the Root base.
He had to resort to this kind of method.
In an instant—
Layers of rocks, trees, buildings, and other obstructions vanished from his sight.
"Lightning Release: Lightning Fang!"
"Zzzzz….zzzzz…."
At the Seventh Training Ground—
Lightning flashed as loud crashes echoed through the field.
Anko, clad in a striking black-and-white coat, gripped the thunder sword, Kiba, her entire body wrapped in fierce electricity.
She looked both powerful and awe-inspiring.
"Boom! Boom!"
The wild lightning surged, twisting like a dance of serpents.
It spread in all directions, tearing up the ground with overwhelming force, blasting forward toward a tall, slender figure in a green Konoha Jonin vest, black mask, and silver hair.
"Go, Anko."
"Anko-san, you're getting stronger."
"Wow, unbelievable… Anko mastered the thunder sword so quickly."
"Kakashi, you're my eternal rival—don't you dare lose."
Nearby, Kurenai, Guy, Asuma, Yugao, Genma, and Aoba, Konoha's Jonin and special Jonin, were all watching with great interest.
"Hmm? Thunder Sword, Kiba?"
Observing through his red eyes, Kiyoshi was startled. "How did it end up in Anko's hands?"
"And Kakashi…. dressed like that, has the Third Hokage arranged for him to leave the Anbu?"
He hadn't expected that in just a little over half a month, Anko had somehow acquired Kiba.
From what he recalled, it originally belonged to the S-rank rogue ninja Raiga Kurosuki from Kirigakure.
Then he remembered the Root team's previous mission—almost killing Raiga, and even retrieving the body of Raiga's partner, Ranmaru.
It seemed likely that Raiga, in a reckless attempt at revenge on Konoha, was ultimately killed by Anko, and that sword found a new owner.
As for Kakashi leaving the Anbu to become a Konoha Jonin, it was probably arranged by the Third Hokage.
Kiyoshi remembered that in the original story, Guy and others, after witnessing Kakashi's cold-blooded demeanor on a mission, petitioned Hiruzen to release him from the Anbu and let him become a mentor to young shinobi, hoping that teaching would dispel the darkness in Kakashi's heart.
Hiruzen, who had apparently already considered this, agreed.
Thus, Kakashi officially left the Anbu and became a Konoha Jonin, though he initially used a harsh team collaboration test to fail groups of fresh graduates from the academy.
"With her Dark Release Kekkei Genkai advantage, allowing her to master lightning nature transformation with ease, Anko could indeed wield the thunder sword to great effect."
Kiyoshi, stroking his chin, was intrigued. He chuckled softly, "I wonder how well she can fight against Kakashi without using the Cursed Seal."
"Since I'm here, I might as well wrap up early today."
For once, Kiyoshi set aside his research, delegating the remaining work to his Wood clones, before vanishing on the spot to go watch the fight.
….
"Raikiri."
Meanwhile, back at the Seventh Training Ground—
Faced with the relentless assault of lightning, resembling a wild, venomous serpent, Kakashi couldn't help but tense up.
Only a few days ago, he had officially left the Anbu under the Third Hokage's orders, and he was well aware that Anko's strength had increased immensely under Kiyoshi's guidance.
She was no longer the same as before.
Not daring to be careless, he lifted his forehead protector, revealing his Sharingan.
"Zzzzz...zzzzz…."
He weaved hand seals, electricity sparking around him.
His right hand condensed with blinding lightning.
"Boom! Boom!"
The physicalized Raikiri displayed terrifying power.
With precise strikes, he severed the incoming bolts of lightning.
Using the Lightning Release to stimulate his body, his speed and reflexes dramatically heightened.
At an astonishing speed, he charged straight at Anko.
Anko crossed her twin swords, gathering formidable Lightning Release chakra, and slashed toward the sky.
"She's sending Lightning Release chakra skyward to summon lightning?" Kakashi, his Sharingan observing her every movement, continued his approach without slowing.
"Sizzle…."
Sure enough—
In a blink, the blue sky roared with thunder.
The sudden storm startled everyone.
Bolt after bolt of lightning rained down on Kakashi.
The bright flashes painted the Seventh Training Ground in a stark, blinding white.
The scene was difficult to look at directly.
"Boom! Boom!"
Rocks flew in every direction.
The ground was wrecked beyond recognition.
Kakashi, moving with exceptional speed, dodged left and right.
Each flash of lightning met with his Raikiri, severing several bolts, an awe-inspiring feat.
He steadily closed in on Anko.
"Zzzzz…zzzzz…."
In an instant, Kakashi surged forward with remarkable speed, thrusting Raikiri, a blade that seemed able to pierce anything, straight toward Anko.
But Anko, reacting swiftly, barely managed to block the strike with her twin swords.
It was a narrow escape.
"What.?"
But then—
The thunder sword, Kiba's power astonished Kakashi.
Even with his S-rank Raikiri countering its sharp edge, stray currents seeped through.
His whole body began to numb from the electric shocks.
The pressure on him increased.
"Clang...."
In that split second—
Anko's right leg shot out like lightning.
With a fierce sidekick, she sent Kakashi, whose movements had been hampered by the thunder sword's electricity, flying backward.
"This sword's strength isn't as weak as you'd think." Anko charged, her twin swords crackling with terrifying lightning.
"You got too cocky, Kakashi."
"No, Anko, it's you who's cocky."
In the next instant—
Behind Anko—
Another Kakashi appeared, holding a deadly Raikiri.
He thrust toward her in a fierce assault.
"What? A Shadow Clone?"
"Zzzzz…zzzzz…."
"Boom! Boom!"
