As we stepped inside, the rich aroma of food wrapped around us, pulling us in like it was calling our names. The scent alone was enough to make our mouths water.
We headed to the dining room, where Aisha was setting the table. John, looking like he hadn't eaten in days, stared at the food like it was a divine blessing. I couldn't blame him—throwing him straight into training after gaining power was probably a bit overkill. He was stronger now, but he still had a long way to go. That was fine—for now.
Gesturing toward Aisha, I said, "This is the sister I've been telling you about."
John, clearly not thinking, blurted out, "She's so cute! I just feel like cuddling her. And I can already tell her cooking is amazing—I don't even need to taste it!" Then, as if realizing what he had just said, he quickly added, "If you had told me about her earlier, I would've stayed here to protect her 24/7!"
Aisha and I both stared at him, stunned.
