Chapter 50 - Who’s Amber-ruby?

NOWADAYS

As he thought while walking in the corridor, of how he did to be in this position of lord was already a big step for him. He left from a slave, a prison to a Lord.

Three years, three years stuck in the enemy kingdom. One year as a slave and two years as warrior.

How ironically life is, he's on the service of the kingdom that he hated so much and that he wanted to get revenge of.

He arrived outside waiting for the princess. As ordered the nkumkuma he must accompany the princess in Ahmet's shop in the dunes of the desert, usually it's one of her brother that do this but none of them were present.

The princess finally arrived with two servants behind her.

When she saw Ace, her face lit up as she smiled.

"You can go" she ordered to her servants

"But princess we can't, we were assigned to stay with you and protect you also" one politely said

"If the nkumkuma noticed it he will give our bodies to the vultures" the other said worried for their life.

"He will not notice it, plus, I'm with Ace nothing will happen to me" She tried to assure them.

They still hesitated.

"It's an order" she said sternly.

The servants didn't have a choice to allow her alone. They just prayed that the nkumkuma wouldnt learn about that.

She turned and arrived at the spot of Ace.

"Ace" she called as she bowed

"My princess" he did the same thing.

They climbed in such kind of coach but it was drive by two Camels because those animals were resistant to the dryness of the desert and can last long without drinking water.

YEMET had cars but using a car wasn't favorable for where they were going.

In the coach.

"Im glad that you could come" Dalilah said with a smile.

"It's my mission, my princess"

"Ace, I told you to call me Dalilah not princess"

"I'm sorry my princess"

"Ace…." She rolled her eyes exasperated.

"You know I'm the one that asked to Khir to put you here in BÂÂT?" She said.

"Really?" He wondered.

The rumor was said that Ace was supposed to be send to Barabass but to his great surprise they left him here in Bâât.

"Yes" she replied.

"Why did you do that?" He asked staring at her.

Dalilah doesn't support to fixed someone straight in the eyes and Ace was someone that always looked straight in the eye.

"Well… it's.. it's " she stammered as she looked down.

"Ahhhh" a scream was heard from outside.

Ace jumped out of the coach and saw the person driving the camel dead. He saw scorpions big once , coming out from the dunes. One has send his venom to the driver and he died.

Ace took Dalilah and place her behind him.

They were five of them. He fought and kill them.

"It was easy" he said but then he received the poisonous tail of one in his leg .

"Ace!!!" Dalilah yelled

He turned to the Scorpion and stabbed him with his sword for the last time.

"Ace.. Ace you are touched, we have to find a healer fast" she said as she tore her dress in a hase to tie on Ace's leg a little upward where the scorpion stung him.

"Don't worry it's… nothing " his vision was getting blurred, his lips felt as if he had rust on his mouth. He looked at his fingers, they were not moving and it felt cold.

Even though Dalilah had tied to avoid the poison to move to the heart but it wasn't sufficient, the poison needed to be removed.

He felt his body falling on the ground.

"Ace…Ace…Ace" Dalilah called with concern.

The last thing he saw was Dalilah calling his name as he closed his eyes.

Dalilah saw Ace turning in his sleep, murmuring, sweating. She thought it was due to the poison that he was sweating but it was as if he was having a nightmare.

He squeezed the bed, Dalilah woke him up.

"Ace, stand up. Ace" she shook him a little.

He opened his eyes suddenly and was breathless.

"You did a nightmare" Dalilah said.

He glanced at his leg and saw that a bandage was attached to it. He then looked at Dalilah.

"My princess where are we?" He asked.

"In Ahmet's shop. Fortunately for us we weren't far from his shop, I ran here and he help us, he called a healer" Dalilah said.

Ace looked the window and saw that it was already the night.

"I must informed thé nkumkuma" he tried to stood up but Dalilah stopped him from getting up.

" I called him already don't worry" she said.

"Thank you" he lie back on the bed

"Ace, can I ask you a question?" She asked shyly, looking down.

"Yes"

"Who is Amber-ruby?"

Ace gazed Dalilah, wondering where she could have heard that name.

"You said her name in your dream" she gazed at him.

"I guess she is very important if you sees her in your dream" she said a little displeased and looked the other way.

He then turned and looked up at the ceiling.

"Amber-ruby …. She's a ghost" he said gently.

"A ghost?"

"Yes"

"She was important for you?" She asked.

Ace stood silent then said.

"Yes, very important for me" he said sadly.

What Ace said hurt her a little.

"Now sleep. Tomorrow we will go from here early" he said as he closed his eyes.

Dalilah did the same thing but her eyes were still opened.

"He had someone important in his life" she thought
